Women’s Alpine/ice soft shell pants

Hey friends, I’m looking for a pair of decent alpine/ice climbing pants. I’m mostly going to use them for trekking through snow, glaciers, ice climbing, but also want them comfortable enough to rock climb in the alpine. I’ve seen some pants that are half waterproof, half soft shell, those look sweet…

But my main thing is POCKETS. Why the fuck is the outdoor market still contributing to the lack of FUNCTIONAL P O C K E T S in women’s clothing?  I find cool pant. Pockets only big enough for maybe one mini sized snickers. I’d prefer large zippered thigh pockets since that’s where I like to put my phone and/or snacks.

What are your favorite pants? Thank you for the help. :)

Look at Rab. They make lots of women’s functional softshell pants for women

Another vote for Rab, although I am a guy and can’t speak to the pockets for their women’s pants.

I use the Ascendor AS pants and love them for ice/alpine and they’re light enough that you could use them for alpine rock in the summer.

The women’s version looks like it has useable pockets and it has a thigh pocket too

The pockets on the Rab Ascendor AS pants are the same on both the women’s and men’s, and are very functional. Also they are just a great softshell pant all-around. La Sportiva’s women’s pants also typically have big pockets. I have one of their softshell pants (idk which one) and the pockets are very big (the Rab pants are nicer though)

Check out mountain equipment. I've had goodluck with their men's line, and they have short inseams.

Have any of the commentors worn women's-specific soft shell pants before? Would love a first-person review!

I'm a huge fan of zip through the crotch pants, especially when wearing a harness and/or playing in the snow and ice.  Gnara makes "GoThere" pants that might work for you. I'm sure there are others.

I have the Rab women's Ascendor pants and have worn them for numerous winter hikes. I find the pockets to be ample--mine have a standard sized hip pocket on each side (not huge, but not small either). They are comfortable, made of quality materials, and have an adjustable waist that I like. I would recommend them.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
