Hello shoe experts! A little bit ago I got my climbing shoes resold at Rock and Resole only to realized that two of my other shoes were also in dire need of a resole. Does anyone know any other good companies in boulder/ Colorado that resolves climbing shoes for cheap? Trying to see if there are better companies than RR.

Backcountry Cobblers in Lander. Much better than RR. Gotta pay postage but it’s worth it.

Sorry to say I don't know who is both.

How are they better? Curious 'cause I use R&R but am not opposed to trying others...

Backcountry Cobblers are, at this moment, faster than RR, and will do more extensive repair. Some have reported that RR won’t deal with leather damage. I did my last resole batch with them and was completely satisfied. Plus, Jay is awesome! Just sayin’.

Backcountry Cobblers lists a TC pro "Crack King" conversion on their services, but no description or pics. Anyone know what's up with this?

Send Jay and email and he will show you what he can do. Jay is not just a resoler, but an actual cobbler. We have had a ton of custom work done on our climbing shoes. I’ll throw some pics up later. Take a look at his portfolio, it’s unreal the work he has done.

From Jay at Backcountry Cobblers: "The Crack King is a 3/4 resole wherein we replace the entire front rand of the TC with one that comes up higher on the sides to prevent the delam (peel away) issue in TCs where the two rands meet, additionally we add a scum patch of rubber over the toes for extra traction and comfort when foot jamming."

HardSend in Louisville has been my go to for the last few years. Very convenient drop off and pick up via a dropbox if you go to The Spot Louisville or G1. Great quality resole and very quick turnaround!

I've used maybe 3 resolers at this point and Backcountry Cobblers has been my absolute favorite. Last winter I sent in 3 or 4 pairs of climbing shoes and a pair of slippers that I had him add approach rubber to as a gift for my belay partner. It took a month on the dot from the day they were received to the day that they shipped when all other resolers were quoting 8-10 weeks. I should also mention that one pair of climbing shoes (that I got for free) had a hole in the leather that you could shove a finger through and they were returned looking like new shoes

Rock and Resole used to be awesome but their quality has gone downhill over time.   They certainly used to do leather repairs, but now I find it's hit or miss on a simple TC Pro resole- plus their prices are through the roof now.

Agreed that all of my Rock and Resole orders in the recent years delaminate within a couple weeks.

Pro deal resoles is cheap and based in CO but the turnaround time is like 3 months. Yosemite bum has a free shipping deal going on rn which makes it not much more expensive, with a 1 month turnaround time.

I agree. Pro deal resoles in CO is inexpensive and does nice work. But you do have to wait, depending on how slammed Bennet is.
The old adage of...  Choose Two (Cheap,Fast,Good)

I sent him 4 pairs (stuffed in a flat rate box last summer) and I got them back in about 6 weeks. They all looked great!

@Bb Cc I sent 3 pairs to backcountry cobblers recently and it's been almost 2 weeks since the tracking says they were delivered and I haven't seen any confirmation email or anything.  Is this pretty standard for them and I'll just hear when they're done or what has been your experience in the past.

Jay is awesome and he will get to your shoes. I also sent a box of 6-7 pairs, and I trust he received them and will get them in the lineup.

I know he used to have more time to communicate, but now that everyone knows about him he has to spend more time fixing shoes and less time emailing.

If you are curious about your shoes just send him an email and he will respond in a few days.

The only emails I got from him when I sent mine last year, were my invoice once the work was completed and the tracking number. I reached out to him through Instagram before sending stuff and he responded pretty quickly.

TC Pros stuck like magic on Churchbowl Tree. Must have infused with good ju-ju before shipping back to me. Friend’s Solutions are working for him on 12b and V8 in the gym. Comfortable, familiar fit for him post-resole, he said.

Good Ju-Ju is included with new toe caps. Otherwise it requires a season of paying it forward.

Any feedback on type 2 repairs? Sounds like they are doing pickup at a lot of area gyms seems convenient.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
