Kill Outside Magazine
|
Every major climbing destination country in the world has a print climbing magazine (listed below) except for the United States. Why? Because Outside magazine bought them up and then killed them. Both Climbing and Rock and Ice were killed by Outside. If you had a subscription, they switched it over to Outside. If you have automatic renewal turned on for your subscription and you really want a climbing magazine instead of the fluff Outside publishes then log-in and turn off automatic renewal (link below). Let Outside magazine know how you feel (if you agree of course) for killing our print climbing magazines. Australia - Vertical Life |

Luke Mehalls “the zine” doesn't count? |

ZT G wrote: To be honest I didn't even know "The Zine" existed. I surmise at the low number of subscribers and 2 print issues a year a lot of others don't know of its existence. I applaud their efforts and wish them the best of luck in reaching their goal of 2000 subscribers. Maybe it can become a monthly full-featured magazine to fill the void. |

Brian wrote: You should give it a look. As someone spending most of the year out n about that magazine speaks to my soul and always seems to have topics relevant to the trials and triumphs of living with climbing at the center. You can really tell it’s written by climbers doing the same. |

Brian wrote: I still think you're a double agent who yells a clouds. Besides, who here would have a subscription to Outsize Magazine!? |

ZT G wrote: It's a good mag. Unfortunately despite the publishers saying that they're financially stable in an Outside Magazine interview they keep having to ask for donations to 'Keep the Zine Alive' |

Maybe I should apply for a job with them! |

Brian wrote: Print magazines are dying and those that remain have basically moved to the net and the print product is merely a legacy. With climbing mags it just happened a bit faster here than the rest of the world. |

We have alpinist magazine , very in depth writing with great photography. Expensive admittedly, reads like a novel; in a good way! |

The OP's gripe is not so much with Outside as most know it but with Pocket Outdoor Media. Outside was sold to POM in 2021. Which was then renamed to Outside. POM bought Climbing and Rock & Ice among other media. |
