I'm selling my Silent Partner.  Bought this new used it only once.  Like new condition.  Asking $1,400.  There don't seem to be many out there but this one is in much better condition than the 2 on EBay for over $1,700.  I haven't climbed in 18 years and this has been in my basement storage room.  Just read what they are going for and I was a bit surprised to read the history.  Seems like this Forum is recommended for selling an item like this since it's going to appeal to a small percentage of serious climbers.

I know scammers are a thing for both buyers and sellers so I'm open to suggestions.  Using an Escrow service is fine with me until you receive it and look it over.  For anybody in the Denver, CO area an in person sale would solve this and you can check out all my other gear. All lightly used.  I'm willing so sell it all and was thinking about posting more.  My cams are like new but due to age I would resling them.  I'll get more of my gear posted later.

You could start by selling some of your less expensive items first to establish that you are legit. I'm not saying you aren't but starting off with a big ticket item is a red flag kind of thing. Just a suggestion. The escrow idea is intriguing but still a bit off-putting, not that $1000+ twenty year old belay device isn't already kind of a hard one to swallow. Except perhaps as a collectable. Good luck!

JimC, thank you for the suggestion and the very helpful chart.  Based on those sales figures I'm willing to lower the price of the Silent Partner to $1,200.  Again, mine was only used one time and is like new :)

Here are some quick photos to show roughly what I have.  I need to lay everything out and inventory at some point.  I had big dreams in my late 30’s of doing a big wall and was buying gear like crazy (I’m 58 now).  Got to the point of hiring a Yosemite mountaineering guide for a couple days to teach me some big wall climbing, but I ended up getting married, having kids and pretty much stopped climbing.  All the Cams all work great, everything was purchased new and very lightly used.  No falls.  It’s all about 20 years old and has been stored in my storage room in the basement in Colorado (cool, dark, low humidity).

Bottom line is the gear is in great shape, but I would definitely resling everything.  I’d obviously like to sell it all and be done; but I realize most people will want smaller lots versus everything.

I'm not very interested in selling individual items so please make me a reasonable offer and help me limit the trips, packing, shipping, etc.  Otherwise, this is not worth my time and I will just post locally for somebody who can come get it.

Thanks, Kent

How much for the 4.5 Camelot and the petzl orange and pink long dog bones?

Hammer & Hexes are sold.   Silent Partner is still available.  I'll repost everything else later in smaller batches (think I'm going to try local first on Craigslist).  Too much of a pain to ship small batches, single cams, etc

I have the same hammer, would you mind sharing how much you sold it for?

Hey I sent you an email regarding the SP, I’m interested. I’m a new account too, but I would send the money via PayPal before shipping anyway.

How much for just the chalk bag? I can only pay in Francs, and I’ll need you to FedEx overnight. Lemme know if we have a deal.

Sorry I just created a new account because the previous one had been created with my Apple ID and for some reason it just didn't work and also didn't share my real email address due to privacy settings.

I'm still interested in your SP, and sending you a DM from this new account so that we can get in touch.

Why doesn't someone reproduce the SP, if you make 1000 pulleys you'd have a million. With a million bucks you could then buy 1000 SP's.

Because the market is too small. A quote from Rock Thompson, the founder of Rock Exotica:

"Many of our other products expanded beyond climbing and technical rescue into all kinds of other markets, such as arborism, rope access, stage rigging, linemen work, and more. We make big quantities of those products and they are what pay the bills, whereas the Silent Partner sales were down to around 100 a year. Although we realized we were not making any money with it, we kept it in production for some years anyway just because we liked it and we liked the climbers who used it. But in the end it was a necessary financial decision to discontinue it."

Who knows, maybe they'll restart production or another company will come out with a product that makes the SP obsolete. I wouldn't hold my breath.

In the meantime, I doubt OP is a scammer, as they are still not replying to my offer to buy their SP lol

If you make a couple thousand of them, their value will plummet, and you’re back to the same situation as RE.
