Climbing in Bull Creek/ St. Edwards?
|
Potentially not the right forum but figured there’s more Austin people in here than the regional one. I was out hiking over the weekend from Bull Creek to St Ed’s and noticed some bolted anchors along the cliff face. Looked online and couldn’t find anything about them. Don’t remember seeing anything in the guidebook either. Anyone ever climbed there or know of these routes? |

The sport climbs at bull creek are on private property, or at least they were last time I was there (~4 years ago). The landowner doesn’t want people wandering on to his property and climbing there. There are some pretty fun routes there though! You can try getting his permission to climb there, that’s what we did a while back. |

Where are the coordinates of this? Library wall is downstream from bull creek district park, whereas st Edward's park is far upstream. There are cliffs closer to st eds I've seen which I've thought could be climbed, maybe somebody did it. and theres some water soloing at st ed's park which I've posted here on mountain project already. If this is library wall, The picture kind of looks like bedtime for bozo but I don't think it is. I used to bolder downstream from bull creek on the mentioned "private property", i ran into the "land owner" a couple of times and had pleasant enough conversation but it was clear he didn't want me there. I've heard from brian tickle that the guy doesn't own the wall himself, but the land owner told me he did, so idk. Anyway I made a little guide of the bouldering there: drive.google.com/file/d/15Q… |

Personally, I think people need to assess safety for themselves, and the expectations for stuff being "safe" ends up just further restricting access to outdoor climbing. Most good rock climbing guides preference with comments like "climbing is inherently dangerous , climate your own risk" , if you can't assess your own safety needs, there are safer options with the more mainstream areas nearby |
