I though so - had a really nice meal there.  But only been there once

The Tamarisk Restaurant in Green River should get an award for nicest location with the most terrible food.  They even make a super basic bacon and eggs breakfast completely flavorless.

Ummm, we are talking about Green River Utah right? While there are many great places around and not far from Green River  the town does not make my list as a nicest location. Neither does Green River Wyoming.

I recall going to Bob's Mexican in Green River ca. 2007 on a geology field trip.  It was awful.  Can't find it online anymore, so I suppose things that have a way of working themselves out worked themselves out.

The restaurant overlooking the river is a nice location - a good restaurant with a patio overlooking the river would be a really pleasant place to hang there.

Alas not south of I-70. About 2 hrs north actually but excellent for the SLC -> Moab run.

From Ron Olevsky

Best Restaurant in Southern Utah thread;

The tamarisk DOES have a nice view of the river, but the food is awful.

Likewise I would avoid Tropical Smoothie stores. They all have one owner and a year ago they gave me food poisoning (probably a cross contaminated cutting board) and I spent 3 days in the hospital. They were talking about resecting my intestines, and I had an NG tube for a day.

One of my ER doctor friends says it is the most traumatic procedure done in the ER.

(They stick a tube up your nose into your stomach.)

I can't believe people haven't included the Bit and Spur in Springdale.

Likewise in Saint George the best Is Sakura Japanese Steakhouse. They have great hibachi chefs. Don't singe your eyebrows. They also have table service and sushi bar. The place is spectacular with a mat inside the door that shows swimming fish and reacts when you walk on it!

Not on the menu but Esther knows what a piton roll is (crab maki topped with salmon roe) and is the best server. I tip her well, do the same please.

I've known the owner Jonny since he was a chef for others, a real American success story.

I have also been to Painted Pony for the ahi tuna salad and clam linguine.

In Cedar City avoid Erewan and Ninja.

But I dream of meals at Milt's 5 miles up the canyon. In season you can be surrounded by hummingbirds. Bring your Sibley guide.

Ask for Robyn; same deal.

I also go to the Sizzler which has a senior salad bar deal which is well tended and includes hot food and a taco bar and "ice cream".

I like the clam chowder. Obviously I don't keep kosher. ;)

Up which canyon? I only know of the Milt's in Moab (who I no longer patronize as they're totally against 4x4 trails).

Back in the 90s, Oscar’s in Springdale was my go to! Loved their burritos. Bit and Spur fit the bill after being on a wall but that’s probably cuz it wasn’t canned ravioli! Haven’t been back to Zion in a very long while. Will be sure to check out the current fave’s listed above when I head there in March.

Oscar’s is a shadow of its former self. Big portions, but the food is decidedly mediocre at best. Ramsay would be temped to say "dog food on a plate."

St George update:

ROCTACO just went there last night. AMAZING. Weird/cool venue, food 10/10.

Feel love cafe. Brunch/coffee = GOOD.

Viva Chicken: my go to in st george. Good clean food at a reasonable price.

^ Second viva chicken in St. George! It’s a chain, but they have really good Peruvian food. Their side options are bomb including plantains, yucca, and solterito

pizza wagon in hurricane

Was going to add Cafe Diablo in Torrey (on the fancier/finer side and worth it) but looks like it's died and been resurrected into https://www.huntandgatherrestaurant.com - perhaps a fresh candidate there?

I was going to try it the next time I'm in the vicinity. We loved Cafe Diablo.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
