Grivel g20 plus with ski matic 2.0 bindings?

Has anyone used the new grivel ski matic 2.0 bindings w the g20 plus crampons? I'm struggling to fit any regular auto toe bail onto my F1 LTs without hammering, drilling or otherwise modifying the bails or bail slots in the crampons. I've used the Cassin semi auto toe bail and the boot can push too far fwd without really being constrained by the bail.

At the moment the BD ski bails do fit the F1 LTs, but either the bail tips need to be trimmed or the g20 hopes need to be drilled. I use these crampons w the stock bails on other boots, and the BD ski bails w the snaggle tooths for this boot. So I'm not too keen on modifying the gear when I switch back and forth depending on the mission. Thanks for any advice!

What's the issue with the standard Grivel bails on the F1LT? I've used the F1LT with G20+ a few times this season without issue. The fit isn't perfect on the boot, but it works well enough for moderate ice.

Thanks for the pic! This is what mine look like. I had concerns about the bail either starting to destroy the boot or the bail coming off due to only two contact points.

Do you find the heel lever stays in place? The rear end of the scarpa boot gets in the way of it fully seating.

I'm not too worried about the front bail coming off due to only having two contact points, but I hear your concern about wearing the plastic on the toepiece. Haven't seen any issues with this yet, but only time will tell as these boots are new this season. If it does start wearing, I too will probably try to retrofit a BD bail on there. But, its a bit of a pain swapping bails and I'd like to avoid having to do that every time I swap from ski boots to ice boots.

The heel lever is understandably concerning since it doesn't seem like it properly seats as the walk lever is in the way. But, I just cinch down the ankle straps and I haven't had one come off yet!

It's good to know we're in the same boat. I sent Grivel an email asking about ski matic 2.0 and scarpa rear bail bindings. I'll update with the response as well as any other advice I come upon.

updating w info from grivel:

"The Ski-Matic 2.0 toe and heel bails are removable and will fit on your crampons (and all other Grivel Cramp-o-Matic crampons). However, the Ski-Matic bails are not available separately. The Ski-matic system also has a SCARPA specific heel bail that IS sold separately which would likely fit your boots best too.

So to get your G20 Plus to fit you would need to purchase a pair of the Ski Matics 2.0 crampons and the Rear Bail Ski SCARPA.

You can get the Ski Race Skimatic 2.0 crampons at a discount on one of our partner sites here: mtnoutlet.com/ntn17273-griv…

I also just went into the system and added the Rear Bail for SCARPA to that same website. The bails are $29.99 and should show up on this page with the other parts soon: mtnoutlet.com/grivel-crampo…  You can also search item 758376 to find that page. They should be called Rear Bail Ski Race/Tour SCARPA on the site.

The C2N and the G22 Plus New Matic Evo are not available yet and I do not know when we will have stock or if those would specifically work for your needs."

End of season update:

I purchased Singing Rock: Ski Toe Bail. Fits like a glove. Literally better than any other combo toe bail/boot. I climbed the remainder of my season with these and was very happy. They were $18 on Marc's Verticall. Highly recommend.

What did you dremel?

Probably the flattened end of the bail where it goes through the frame of the binding. I replaced  the bails on my Camp BladeRunners with BD bails. I used a file to take a little metal off the ends of the BD bails to get them to fit through the holes on the frame of the crampons.

Made the bail hole on the crampon wider

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
