Best belay glasses
|
What are your recommendations on the best belay glasses, especially those that fit over glasses? |
|
I’ve had good luck with Y&Y. They flip up and have rubber protectors to prevent damage to your glasses. |

I used to wear glasses and got Belay Specs in order to use them specifically over glasses. They seemed to be wider than most other brands at the time (I bought these like 7 years ago, haven’t really done much of a comparison since). The metal frames are also fairly flexible and won’t easily snap like some plastic ones. The eye prisms are fairly big so the field of vision is great. I also have a pair of the PitchSix glasses when they were a kickstarter. I don’t like them that much. They’re relatively narrow. The plastic frames/handles aren’t great. While you can adjust up and down, the mirrors themselves are pretty narrow so feel like my field of vision is still too small. Would not recommend at all for the price they charge. |

Decathlon's ones are good. |

Metolius Upshot Belay glasses are awesome for wearing over glasses. I researched all different kinds and the construction on these are bomber-no sliding down your nose and very comfortable. |

Y&Y clip up. Nicely made, but needs thin nose bridge to clip on to (like on most Rx glasses) - doesn't work well on thick nose bridge (like some Oakley style etc) & you can't bend clips to work around that. |

+1 to belay specs! They are made in Utah, have a great team of people and customer service, are durable, and fit well over glasses. |

My Metolius Upshot belay glasses fit well over my sunglasses, but then snapped in half at the nose bridge, just from taking them off. I had them for six months. Going to try a different brand. |

Well, to each their own. I love the pitch six glasses. The adjustable mirror feature is really nice. It's why I got them, and it hasn't disappointed. I don't find that they're too narrow, and I have no trouble keeping my climber in view. I also like being able to see "ground level" in my periphery, so maybe one person's bug is another's feature. |

Pitch Six Eyesend with their adjustability view. Those I climb with prefer these over theirs Y&Ys and etc. |
