Summary:

This van is a fully custom conversion aimed at providing a luxurious home base for two people working remotely on the road. It also serves as a great base camp for any activity with plenty of storage for toys. The van itself is a dodge sprinter 170” wheelbase 3500 dually. This is the heaviest duty option and rides very well with the full build in it. It drives great in the wind due to the dually and heavy duty capacity. It was meticulously maintained by its previous owner and I continued caring for it in the same manner. It has had no problems since I bought it and runs really well. It is a Mercedes diesel NVC3 V6 which provides plenty of power and is surprisingly efficient with an average mpg of 17-22.

The van:

It was purchased in 2020 with 45k miles on it. All major mechanical issues were addressed at that time. Below is a list of all fixes, if you would like more information please contact me. Oil changes and fuel filter replacement were done every 10k miles as per mercedes benz sprinter recommendation. Engine air filter and cabin air filter were replaced every 20k miles. Oil changes and filter replacements were performed with Mercedes benz brand oil and filters.

    Repairs:

  • Oil cooler and seals- 45k replaced

  • Diesel particulate filter- replaced by previous owner at 44k miles

  • Front brakes and rotors- 47k miles

  • Intake manifold arms- 45k upgraded from plastic to aluminum

  • Full transmission service - 45k

  • Fan belts- 45k replaced

  • Front struts-  53k replaced

  • Two of 6 tires-replaced 53k( only two b/c two of the six where old and had worn poorly)

  • Brakes replaced at 84k (Rotors and pads, front and rear)

I also added a few accessories to the van:

  • Touch screen radio/header unit with backup camera

  • Upgraded sound system

  • Upgraded buckets seats with leather covers (Passenger side swivels to make it a good seat in the living area)

  • Tinted front windows

The Conversion:

This conversion was designed to be a comfortable living space for two remote workers on the road. It has plenty of storage for clothes, food and kitchen accessories in the main living area. It also has plenty of storage for bikes, crash pads and plenty of toys, all within the vehicle. I chose to design the van so that everything could be stored inside it to keep it sleek and keep my things safe and clean.

  • Electric system (Renogy brand)

This electrical system was designed to handle charging two laptops 5 days a week and run all dc accessories with occasional days of low solar charging 7 days a week with extra power to spare. The 3000 watt inverter charger provides the power to run any household accessories such as a blender or food processor and also runs the 4 gall bosch water heater. The inverter charger also provides you with the ability to charge the battery bank from any outlet. The 20 amp alternator charger provides plenty of change to top off the battery whenever the van is running and provides an insurance policy if you find yourself in a place with poor solar charging conditions.
