The news is not ideally reported. But what I understood : basejumper from Australia jump from the 400ft cliff and his parachute was caught 100 feet from the ground. While he was hanging , River Barry was biking in canyon. Somehow she found the gear and belayer [it did not explained in news] and before local SAR team show up - climb the 100ft crack [ on-site] to reach basejumper, build up anchor, clip base jumper to her harness , cut basejumper's parachute and rappel.
Very impressive rescue by bystander. Anyone who can bring more to this story? Curious if River Barry is member of Mountain project. And what cliff in Moab it happen? maybe Indian Creek ?
What a great deed. Hope someone is making a film for us about you!
Just got back from a weekend getting the FFA, led it clean on 1/15/23! A videographer followed the story this weekend and is working on putting together a film :) My instagram will have updates about its release :)
