Cringe worthy climbing videos
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3Psyn9xqV9o homeboy is laying back a perfect #1 splitter (Pente, I think?). Does a single *actual* climber follow this guy on youtube? |
I’ve seen that guy. He’s actually not a bad climber as far as I know, but I think a lot of the videos he makes are geared towards people who have never touched rock before. For example, his highest viewed videos are always titled something like “Trusting my ENTIRE bodyweight on MINISCULE piece of gear” and he’s clipping himself into a nut 3 feet off the ground. So those are pretty cringey I guess. |
Fyi, the trad forum has a thread with a ton of similar videos compiled. |
I don't think that's Pente. But as a thin hands crack lover I don't recoginize it and am curious if anybody else does. |

Holy sheet! The dude has 373,000 + subscribers! |

“The pump… it’s real!” |

Noah Kane is an ass. On top of dramatizing most things he does such as doing a 50ft runout in 5.5 territory and saying “I’m in the no fall zone now” despite having obvious placements in front of him that you can see he has the gear for on his harness, he’s got a couple videos where he’s hammering pitons into clearly chalked holds on boulders. While not a bad climber he sprays a lot for someone who flails on a 5.9 hand crack. |
The bent arms while placing gear and climbing are pretty cringe-worthy. No wonder he’s so pumped. It just screams n00b technique to me. He looks and sounds super uncomfortable. |
Hating on Noah Kane just feels gate-keepy to me. |

He has done vids with cedar wright at that red bull dam comp. Maybe more of a videographer than hardline climber though |
If nothing else, the video is the source for my new favorite climbing line. "The pump, it's real" is a classic. Ranks with the "Only way down is up." ;-) |
No climbing video has ever been recorded with a POV head mounted camera that is worth watching. |

Homeboy has to make a living somehow... maybe being an influencer is his true calling. Just think about how little fun him and his crew must be having when everything needs to be filmed, re-filmed, staged, edited, and posted. Not to mention the anxious wait for click-based validation and income! |

There’s a couple of these sh!t talking, mean girls type threads on here now and it stinks… people on here blasting these guys just trying to have fun climbing and making a video about it… what sick videos have all you made? How would you feel if a bunch of people got together to snark at you and your buddy just trying to have fun…. Pretty disgusted by this. These mean girls threads are pretty much the opposite of what climbing is about. |

This thread is once again a perfect example of the superiority complex of many MP users. This isnt even cringey, you see people do stuff like this all the time, when I see it happen I just think to myself that they could maybe be doing it easier but at least they are getting after it. In particular calling this a layback is also a pretty gross mischaracterization. He was climbing it like a crack until the last 7 seconds of the video or at least kinda climbing it like a crack. Part of the fun of climbing is doing it wrong, so you can learn to do it right. For those of you that are "real" experts, can you come show me the beta on my projects? |
