Foam "rocks" around the gunks?

Anyone know what's up with these? A couple of people in my crew said they saw a bunch of "fake rocks" around CCK a couple weeks ago. I thought they were screwing around with some sort of inside joke but, low and behold, we found a couple "fake rocks" on the top of high e about a week ago. I haven't been able to find any info/reports about them after doing some googling. Didn't know what to do with them or what they might be for so I just left them where I found them.

Edit: for whatever reason youtube won't embed the video. Here's a direct link and some screenshots of me squeezing the rock:

Look like prop rocks, could have been part of a filming for a show/movie that didn’t get cleaned up.

I was taking my daughter up Betty the other day when we noticed one of the packs at the base had a giant rock in it.  After wondering out loud why any one would choose to carry that around the people next to us laughed and told us to pick it up.  It was a fake rock that had been left from the New Amsterdam shoot.  The woman had stepped on it thinking it was real and almost fell because it had no weight to it.  These were not foam but a hard outer shell with no weight and did look like gunks rock.  To state the obvious it would have been nice if the film crew disposed of their trash.

Someone made a mistake and left something behind; call a swat team or Delta Force.

It's kind of funny they felt a need to bring in prop rocks. Was the Gunks not rocky enough for them?

I was just suggesting they pick up their trash in an area I love.  I wasn’t planning on calling a swat team and wouldn’t even know how to get in touch with the delta team folks.  Sorry if you misunderstood.

Every time I walk up the Stairmaster trail I think, "Man, I wish this place had some more rocks." It's great to see someone being the change I want to see in the world.

As in the TV show? Or something else?

Yes.  They shot scenes from the TV show New Amsterdam for 4 days on the preserve.

As mentioned, scenes were shot for the TV show New Amsterdam. It's a medical drama. The episode, (season 5, episode 11) entitled "Falling" airs on January 3rd. The reason for the foam rocks, in spite of the noted supply of rocks already in place, is that exposing actors to real rockfall is really inconsiderate.

I'm guessing that after bombarding the actors with fake rockfall, the cleanup crews missed a few.  The rocks are, after all, supposed to be realistic!

After the fact.

Jackasses should've filmed somewhere other than a preserve. Not cool.

Well it isn't as if the film crew barged in unannounced.  The filming was with the Preserve's permission and the Preserve participated in closing a few locales and in managing logistics so that the filming could happen. This is the second time in recent memory that there has been commercial filming on Preserve land.  I assume that the Preserve made money on the deal and that the income was a major consideration.  I believe a few local climbing professionals got some work too.

Fair enough, but why did it have to be for some trash TV show and not the long awaited Gripped 2?
