Looking to build out a gear room in an unfinished room in my house and need some ideas for how to store and organize gear. Post up some photos of gear rooms/closets!

Here’s a photo of Ueli’s I grabbed from a video:

I like the simple design with the shelves and pegboards.

Pegboard can work but it won’t hold much weight. I’d suggest doing a French cleat system with a locking pin.

May be a bit more involved but super durable and strong!  Good luck!

Get some Gladiator Gearwall panels on sale, have them in my garage for yard tools/climbing gear and they work great.

I use those 3’x3’ stackable organizers with 1’ fabric boxes.  Cram allot of gear into small space.  Retired gear on outside of fabric boxes like broken cam - cam box, ect.

Though I can not remember the brand I have done the same for skis and poles in the garage. Much of my gear is in 12 different Action Packers which are stored in series of builtin wall to wall, floor to ceiling cabinets that are 3' deep. Sleeping bags, pads, tents, boots, packs, also all go in the cabinets. All of it is out of sight. Never needed to "display" my gear, that is what the museum wall is for. The only pegs are for coats.

Got motivated over a stretch of raining weather and put my power tools to use.  Drill jig came in handy to get the holes perfectly vertical.

Ikea bags, specifically.

@Scott360

Where did you get the pull up bar that is mounted on the ceiling?

Amazon, $90.  Note the design allows mounting it on joists spaced at 16" and 24" (as are most trusses these days).  Love this bar--solid as a rock.

Just looking at these beautifully organized spaces makes me envious and wish I was that organized and tidy. It’s so much prettier than my rack on a gear sling stuffed in my pack with a bin for extra shit.  But I am having a hard time imagining racking and re-racking every time before and after a trip.

Stacked bins. Pick up and put in car. Take out and put in garage. Y’all have a lot of free time to rack and rerack all that. Whatever floats yer boats though…

Pretty much just throw stuff in a pack and throw it in corners of the garage. or on shelves. Pretty much know where all the stuff is.

Once you get a certain amount of gear you're not going to bring it on every outing.  I keep my standard single rack and gear on a few slings that I can just grab and go.  The various other gear needed for longer or more unique outings needs to be specifically chosen.  Because of that I like to keep things organized on a wall for easy access.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
