Recycle your old climbing ropes and get a free rope belt!
|
I own a rope recycling company that turns old climbing ropes into belts, and I am looking for more rope donations. I can pay for them to be mailed, or if you happen to be located near Atlanta, I could pick them up in person. Anyone who donates at least 45 meters will get a free belt! You can check out my website to see what they will be made into: https://fitzoutfitters.com/ |

I have a dead 70m bicolor. Hit me up when you're in Chattanooga next, I see you've got a few Foster's pitches on your ToDo list. |

Thank you Joshua, this weekend I will take pictures of the ropes I would like to recycle and submit them on your web site. |

Got my belt! Looks awesome. Thanks! |

Is this still a thing? If so I have a 70m I could send in. |

Still a thing, yes, I talked to them just this weekend at an Artisan's Market |

I got rope for you. ATL based |

Bart Young wrote: Yes, it's still a thing, but I'm putting a pause on accepting new ropes until around August 15th because I am about to move from Atlanta to Salt Lake City. Once I am in Salt Lake City, I'll open the form back up on my website for anyone to get a free shipping label and a free belt made out of their rope. Thanks! |

Bart Young wrote: I just finished getting my new Salt Lake City workshop set up, so I just reopened the form on my website. Just like before, I'll cover shipping and make a free belt for anyone who sends in their rope. https://fitzoutfitters.com/pages/rope-donation-form Thanks! |

Joshua FitzPatrick wrote: I love that you guys are doing this. Just out of curiosity do you guys do anything with the Kerns? |
|
Matthew Bell wrote: Yes, the kerns are fairly clean, mostly undyed, nylon, so they are pretty good for melting down and making new things. We currently don't have the equipment to melt them down ourselves, so we save them up until we hit the minimum for another company to do it. Throughout the time we operated in Atlanta, we accumulated an estimated 500 - 600 lbs of kerns. When we moved to Salt Lake City about two weeks ago, we turned that batch over to Cross Plains Trading Group, where they will be melted down into either nylon pellets or finished fibers for new consumer products. Now that we are in Salt Lake City, we will either find another local company to do that same process with, or we will invest in the equipment to recycle the kerns ourselves. |
