Hey, looking to do a presidential traverse next weekend. What can I expect?

A little background, I have experience climbing in all seasons in the Cascades ( I know the east coast is different in every possible way) but I’ve got a Denali expedition planned for a little over a year and I want to do the Presidential in the dead of winter as a practice run for my gear.

Before that though I want to knock out a fall run of the route.

what can I expect on average next weekend as far as typical crowds and conditions and what not for this time of year?

Thanks.

What to expect this time of year is one thing.  What to expect next weekend? Well it’s been and is forecast to be exceptionally warm - for this tie of year - on the higher elevations and ravines. Enjoy

This weekend you might be able to run it in shorts. Next weekend you might need full winter kit. Use the MWOBS forecast to figure out what your traverse weather will be like. It has been really warm and almost no snow on the Presi’s so far this year. It’s gotta change soon.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
