J-tree BLM camping

Looking at being there mid Nov- early Dec or so. Looks like there's free camping on blm land ~1/2 hr from hidden valley...?? Do any climbers ever stay there?

drive to here and camp anywhere. Mostly RVs, campervans but I sleep in a rental minivan there and sometimes see campers in tents. Mostly not climbers. Note that on cold nights in the area, this area can be 10 degrees F colder than even a few miles away because the cold air sinks (katabatic) and the BLM land is much lower than surrounding areas. Also, don't camp on the dirt trails 'cause lots of motorbikes go through there

Has anyone been to BLM since the recent rain? Headed up to JTree this weekend and heard that the lakebed may be a bit muddy.

Would be nice to know if our Prius will make it before we head all the way out there.

I was there yesterday and it wasn’t really too bad, just avoid driving a sedan if you can in certain areas, some spots have super deep groves from larger cars running the mud. Haha Should dry out completely today. Some areas are worse than others.
