J-tree BLM camping

Looking at being there mid Nov- early Dec or so. Looks like there's free camping on blm land ~1/2 hr from hidden valley...?? Do any climbers ever stay there? |

drive to here and camp anywhere. Mostly RVs, campervans but I sleep in a rental minivan there and sometimes see campers in tents. Mostly not climbers. Note that on cold nights in the area, this area can be 10 degrees F colder than even a few miles away because the cold air sinks (katabatic) and the BLM land is much lower than surrounding areas. Also, don't camp on the dirt trails 'cause lots of motorbikes go through there https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Nomad+Ventures,+Twentynine+Palms+Highway,+Joshua+Tree,+CA/North+Joshua+Tree+BLM,+34+Illinois+116,+Joshua+Tree,+CA+92252/@34.1538068,-116.2876379,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x80dada230db174f9:0xe6571e0782154f37!2m2!1d-116.3155936!2d34.1347124!1m5!1m1!1s0x80dac553d8c1a4c7:0x4232472c387b7a19!2m2!1d-116.224663!2d34.172932!3e0 |

Has anyone been to BLM since the recent rain? Headed up to JTree this weekend and heard that the lakebed may be a bit muddy. |
