I know this is the one to get, https://www.redrocksguidebook.com/index.html

I just emailed the author but does anyone know if a new edition is coming?  Looks like it was printed 2016 so I doubt it, but doesn't hurt to ask

Also, anyone have these as an accompaniment?  I don't have access to the guides locally and like to order online.  If these books have better photos/topos, description, beta, approaches then I thought it may be worthwhile for someone like me flying in and trying to get the most out of my time in climbing the classic, low grade multipitches.  Thanks

Handren's guide is the best and MP is a good supplement for any updated info and newer crags/routes.  No need for anything else, especially if you're gonna be climbing moderate trade routes.

Roxanna Brock’s Red Rock Canyon guidebook is excellent and comprehensive. It’s older than Handren’s second edition, although it has everything that most people would want to do. She is/was a longtime local.

I have the Handren, Falcon, and Supertopo.

The Handren guide is the best, but the Super topo has a few things that Handren's doesn't. I usually take photos of the Handren guide and stick the Super topo in the backpack.

Desert Rock Sports should carry the Handren guide in the store. They also have GearLoopTopos for popular routes - those are my favorites. They're concise and some of the most accurate topos I've ever used.

The Handren guide is the guide to get.

Order it from his website or pick it up in person at our shop.

Don't order it from our very outdated website.

Supplement it with mountain project if you are trying to get on new things. Supplement it with Climb On Maps if you are trying to get to very obscure things with very confusing approaches/descents.

Thank you.  Ive seem the supertopo books before but not for RR and liked the format.  Never seem the falcon guide one.  Good options

This is only half true. It’s quite comprehensive, but is a pretty poor resource to a visiting climber trying to figure out what to do and how to get there.  I used it for 4-5 years of confusion before finally getting the new one.  Handren’s is the best by far.  The super Topo is the other end of the spectrum.  Very much not comprehensive and not quite as usable as Handren’s.

I never had a problem finding anything when I used Brock’s. I haven’t used Handren’s, so I don’t know how it compares.

Handren guide is top 10 guidebooks of all time. Brocks is not.

I started with the Uriostes' "Little Red Book".  Next Came Todd Swain's, then Roxanna Brock's, then Handren I, then Handren II.  I love the Handren books.  IMHO that's the best to get.

Ditto the above.  Along with Jared McMillan's sport guide and Randy Faulk's.

Yeah, the Handren guide is a one and done.  Supplement with newer stuff (and star ratings for the lower rated single pitch routes...ha ha!) here on the 'proj.

I was about to order it from your website when I saw this. Thanks for the heads up. I ordered it directly from his website and had tracking info 20 min later. I’ll stop by the shop when we make it out there in a few months!

Handren's Conway book kicks ass too.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
