6 Month Mentorship Program with Arc’teryx Wearing Climber Rocrates
Hello Mountain Project! My name is Rocrates, and I am launching a 6 month mentorship program for any interested climbers. This program is open to people with too much money who would like to learn how to climb outside up to 5.7 trad (sandbags not included). A bit about me: - I own 2 Atoms and wear them mostly for grocery store trips - Successfully completed tens of climbs in the 5.4-5.8+ range - Completed several possible FAs by getting very off route This program will consist of actual 1 on 1 instruction (over text message) over 6 months to help mentees transition from gym punter to weak but technically efficient trad dad. All instruction sessions will consist of actual text messages from me. Since I love the Mountain Project Community so much and would like to give back, I am offering a special deal: $10/month for 6 months for access to this one of a kind program with promo code: BALLNUTS Please email rocratesmp@gmail.com (please) to sign up. |

Every line... pure gold. Well done. |

I am smelling a scam. How the hell do you afford Arc’teryx. You are probably wearing ArcTreks. Do you have a class about how to get ice cream stains out of my “the sport” shoes? |
.... aaaaand and it's gone. MP killed that one pretty quick. |
How's your french roast? |
Awww man the original thread was just starting to get good! |
I have the exact right amount of money, but I like to spend it in stupid ways. Can I still sign up? |
Aw man, now I’m really sorry I missed the original. |

Did anyone save the original? For posterity? |
Now I’m really pissed that I didn’t check back on the original… maybe the wayback machine has it? |
For posterity, here's the original link from the thread: https://shayrdair.com/. They even have a syllabus and an admissions team . Oh, and an Instagram account too -- wouldn't be complete without that! Sure, it's $1,200 to get from the gym to clipping bolts, but you get a slack channel and an afterparty at the end so it's worth it. |
Seems MP users are no long worthy of the 45% discount. Damn I just found my CC. |

Creed Archibald wrote: That's true beyond a doubt, but the delivery of the original thread advertisement was where the gold is -- but that's since been deleted. And maybe it's just me, but for $1,200 you could reach the same end result by spending $1,100 of that on a rack/rope and $100 on beer. And then you're at least left with some material goods. Plus in my opinion, the cost and the guide (super accomplished pro-climber) seem to be overkill for a course teaching gym climbers how to set up top ropes and lead. But, if there's a market for it and it makes them money, who are we to complain? It's just more commercialization. |

Arnav V wrote: You're not wrong. Also, just because someone is really good at climbing does not mean they are good at teaching. I guess that remains to be seen for JC... |

Creed Archibald wrote: There’s only one JC actually and He doesn’t exchange teaching for money |

Take my money, I will throw it at you. Can you do a 10 month payment plan? |
Sarah Z wrote: Will there also be an entire class dedicated to the multi tool? I don’t know if I can pay $1 a month for 10 months without a minimum of one hour exposure to multi tools |

You all are missing out, I am heading the “shet posting to the prodge” portion of the course. For advanced students I add in live-streaming from the climb, cultivating yourself as a brand ambassador, and pro tips on increasing your hash tag numbers. |

I'm stunned anyone thought it was a good idea to post the original spam to MP... they must have known the ridicule would be swift. |
