Every once in a while you read something that will induce a physical response. I involuntarily put my legs together and my wife asked me why I was grimacing.

Thanks for sharing that

There's a better technique than trying to pee from on your side (for a man). You lay on you back, put the bottle on the outside of your hip/leg, lay your member across the top of your leg, and pee into the bottle all while laying on your back. You might think I'm making a big-penis joke here but I assure you it works way better than you would think.

It took me 30+ years to learn about this technique, they should really teach it in school or something. Works perfect in a cramped tent/portaledge/sleeping bag and requires minimal movement.

I knew you guys had it easier than us but I had no idea it required this little effort. I am so jealous.

Water bottle during the day, pee bottle during the night. Just bring a small container of bleach to wash out the sterile urine in the morning; or not. It is sterile

purpose built bottle.  No experience with this one but considering it

Hydro's Stash looks like it could work. beats out the g-whiz in the weight category too.

Other ideas here which fall into the same as suggested by Mikey Schaefer.

I have to admit I was expecting to see plethora of 'in-field' examples from the MP community. I thought everyone took pics of their post death march apple juice.

thanks everyone,

Urine is not sterile. Many other research publications note that as well.

I just tried this and I could barely find it let alone "lay it across my leg".   Nice flex bro lol.

Over the weekend i tried out the Hydrapak 1liter collapsable that clips together.

The image of the one i ordered showed a smaller cap. I got a 1.5 liter at the same time with the smaller cap and the opening is almost identicle to a sports drink bottle about 33 mm. I dont like that size opening since the fit is a bit too tight.

The opening of the 1 liter i got is actually about 52mm which works well. I think something around 40 to 45mm would be ideal though.

The loop at the opening helped me hold the bottle securely.

The extra plasting molding at the base that facilitates clipping the top and bottom together adds unnecessary weight. A partially full uncapped bottle does stand up on a flat surface, but only a fool is gonna try that in a tent with it full of pee.

I think this one is ok but i would rather have a larger bottle with a 40mm ish opening.

lol. Well it's not like uncoiling a garden hose

You have to use the over-under coil so that you don’t introduce twists.

Is the plastic molding removable by chance? every ounce counts right? even the hydrapaks are heavy imo.

What? No. Remind me to never ask you for a drink.
