Gear Storage in College Dorm?
Hey folks, Anyone have any tips for storing climbing/general outdoor gear in a dorm room? Right now I'm just thinking a big bin under the bed. |
A big bin is a good idea, and optionally within it some stuff sacks to separate kinds of gear from getting tangled / keeping it organized. Do make sure your shoes, harness, gloves, etc. can dry out though between climbs |
Depending upon how small the dorm room is, a tension-fit shower rod can be used to hang high the larger bulky items like the rope and harness |
As much as people dunk on gear walls - I wish the decor I had in my dorm room looked half as nice as a gear wall does. |
In a bin, out of sight. That shit just hanging around is going to get stolen, if just for a prank. |

Probably a good idea to keep the gear away from a collage dorm, at least until the glue has dried. |

As someone who somewhat recently climbed in college, make sure that your gear is stored in a bin and out of sight. Things tend to walk off unfortunately and losing climbing gear would suck. i would not want my gear out and about for people to see openly. also would prevent drinks or beer being spilled on it. |

Everything just stuffed into a haulbag, and a signed letter that none of the ropes in the bag were to be used for any unauthorized activity on campus. |

I actually got busted in grade school once because we were told to bring claw hammers to school to break open geodes for science class and my dad sent me with a rock hammer instead (since it’s the appropriate tool) aaand that landed me in the principal’s office the second the teacher (who told us to bring hammers) saw it… |
