Scarpa shoe sizing comparison

Anyone out there with multiple Scarpa shoes - do you size them differently or all the same?

I got the old mago and instinct sr in the same size (36.5) and I find myself wanting to downsize the mago (the heel feels baggy in heel hooks) and upsize the instinct sr (so tight I lost motivation to use them at all). I also got the drago low volume a whole size up from the other two and it fits my forefoot well but the shoe is too long causing the heel to be baggy. Even a whole size up the drago LV is significantly more narrow than the mago. I'm interested in getting chimeras, regular dragos, and the new mago and I'm trying to figure out how to size them - I can't try them on because the stores near me don't carry shoes small enough unless they're women's.

I have had various ski boots, running shoes, approach shoes, and probably a half dozen different climbing shoe models (Boostic, Booster S, Feroce, Instinct lace and velcro, Vapor lace and velcro) from Scarpa all in the same size. I'll buy the shoes I prefer for trad (Vapors and Instinct lace) a half size up, but that's about it. I find them remarkably consistent in sizing.

It sounds like these shoes do not fit your foot shape. I say that because in order to get the toe area to fit, you size up until the heel is baggy.

You need a shoe that you can properly size so the heel is locked on, but the toe area is not painful.

If your forefoot is too wide, which sounds like the case, try the Veloce M, which is their widest shoe. I imagine you can downsize quite a bit.

Another option is Evolv, which generally fit a wider toe area with a small heel.

The mago has a really nice, wide forefoot, but I too always had issues with that heel, it is a weakness of that shoe imho. I find the (OG) sportiva testarossa very similar, albeit slightly softer and with a better heel. They were designed by the same person (Heinz Mariacher) I've been told, so that might explain.
(I am 1.5 to 2 euro sizes down in sportiva vs scarpa though. )

I have the instinct VSR and the drago both in 43 and they both fit perfectly

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
