this is just like, my opinion, man. who did I miss? (this is a sh*tpost, don't take it too seriously)

A few weeks ago I was at a gear show and saw a magazine that had lead title on the front cover that said something to the affect of "Top 20 influencers in the outdoor industry." I thought that would be an interesting read as I expected a short on Yvon Chouinard of Patagonia, or Eric Artz of REI, and others who have shaped and are shaping the industry. I was surprised when I did not recognize the first few names. Then I realized these were social influencers. As I flipped through all 20 I think there were two names I recognized. Obviously I am no longer the target audience. And after reading some of the profiles of these so called influencers, they have little to offer.

I recognize some of these thumbnails... when I first tried the 'gram I followed a bunch of climbing related accounts thinking I would get a sweet feed of quality climbing photos to look at while I poop. That was when I was naive enough to think instagram is about good photos; but it's mostly a feedbag of clickbait drivel served up by hacks trying to get insta-famous. An algorithm of tactless garbage. The guidefluencer is a dangerous breed.

Jeff Ward and Dale Remsberg should be higher, you should also add Margaret Wheeler, Erica Engle, Angela Hawse, and Mallory Estenson.  Jere Burrell does a good job of posting a lot of useful content too.  Larry Goldie is worth including for his smile and positivity alone.

lmao i had to block whoever that guy is in F tier cus he keep showing up in my feed and his posts would be like "what do you all think of doing xyz method?" then the comments would be him being the biggest absolute asshole to every single person who replied. Pretty sure his bio said "educator" hahaha what a joke.
