what are the best budget holds to get for your home climbing wall?

Atomik has deals most the time and I have been pretty happy with them.

These are my favorite: https://www.synrockholds.com/

Cheaper than plastic holds (although he raised prices slightly over the pandemic surge), they have a really nice sandstone-like feel. Main downside is they are sorta fragile, which isn't an issue unless you want to reset your home wall very frequently.

Get quality holds that you enjoy climbing on in order to get the most out of your homewall. The unfortunate reality is that holds are expensive. Teknik, Kilter, and e-grips have some of my favorite. Atomik are a little cheaper, can be hit or miss, some sets are very comfortable and fun to climb on, others are strange and can have an oddly slippery texture. Check out Thrive Climbing for discount mystery boxes of factory seconds of some nice holds.

I know I'm late to the party, but rockymountainclimbinggear.com has the best $$/hold that I have found. They won't make your wall colorful and there's not a ton of variety, but enough for a small wall. Mine is 8' x 8' and these holds are great.

Hey, i'm part of bear creek climbing we make all natural real rock holds so if you are looking to improve your outdoor grip and strength id suggest using these!

best budget holds is to make your own wood holds.  with a miter saw and a belt sander (orbital sander works, as well), you can make a ton.  add in an angle grinder with a shaping burr and you can make even more.  buy off cuts of hard woods for pinches and jugs.  get pre-cut trim pieces for crimps.  chop it all up, sand them, then start climbing.  you can easily make 100 holds for $50.

I just got a set of the bear creek holds and they are awesome! I'd definitely suggest trying out a set. I just got some to try and see if I liked them, fell in love and now I want more! Best feeling of any indoor holds. I've tried a bunch of different plastic ones, wood ones, and the synrock ones. The real rock ones from bear creek are by far my favorites.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
