A lot of people camp at devil's tower lodge. It's donation based.

maybe keep expectations low

tower looks good but is far from good climbing

ideally get on a 5.10 crack for a more classic experience

Seems like you're describing a guided trip up Durrance to me.

I don't mean that dismissively by the way - it's a pretty nice route, well worth doing if you're going to do just one easy thing on DT. Plus you'll feel like heros on the way back as a bunch of tourists ask you how many days (lol) it took to get to the top and if there's a whole in the middle or not. Might even get your better half interested in climbing, who knows?

the tower is amazeing! and yes the climbing must suck if you don't like splitters on clean solid rock.

Awesome! Glad you guys got up the tower in what looks like great  weather.  Got to love the MP asshat that says the place  sucks and recommends a family looking for a moderate trip up the tower to get on a 5.10...

El Matador, Carols Crack, McCarthy North Face, Two Moons Over Hullet, Assembly Line, Bloodguard, Digital Extraction... The list goes on. Mega classics.

My experience is that climbing at the Tower is awesome. Over the years I've made four separate trips from L.A. to climb there. It's that big of a draw for me. Of course some outings to the Black hills are in order while you're in that area. Pretty good climbing there too.

“Far from good climbing” ???

The tower literally has world class climbs on all sides.
