I am looking to try a pair of tenaya lati. I wear a size 40 solution comp and it fits really well, and am a size 9.5 street shoe. Any recommendations on how much I should downsize?

I'd suggest sizing the performance Tenaya shoes similarly to how you size Sportiva.

I also have a 9.5 (42.5) street shoe, generally wear 39.5 to 40 in Sportiva for tight performance fit. So, basically the same as you. I've worn the Oasi in 39.5 (very tight performance bouldering fit), and in 40 (tight but comfortable; perform well; use as gym shoes).

I cannot speak specifically to the Iati, but by most accounts the Iati has similar shape and fit to Oasi, so this info should carry over.

Overall, I'd probably suggest 40 as a starting point.

Iati is my go-to shoe.  I wear 11.5 street shoe and 10.5 Iati and every other Tenaya model.  Never worn Sportivas so sorry I’m not much help there.

Did you read his post? He downsizes 2.5EU in his Solutions, he’s not going to wear a performance shoe in street size!

Ok sorry I gave my opinion

For what it’s worth, I also have worn solutions in the past smaller than my street shoe size…but you’re right I should just not have responded.

Another data point, I have 2 pairs of Masai's

Street shoe size: EU 42 / US 9M

Comfort (all day trad): Masai's EU 42 / US 9 (Similar feel to TC Pros 41.5, 5.10 Pinks US 9)

Performance (toes curled but not painful) Masai's EU 41.5 / US 8.5

9.5 street, size 8.0 oasi (though i wish i picked up another pair of LS instead). for me that was a very tight bouldering fit and the receipt has a US size. shoes didn’t last long and are now trash sadly.

Tenaya sizing is pretty confusing because their shoe sizes differ vastly depending on weather the shoe is from their Balance Pro or Aerial Plus lines. For the Balance Pro lines I would suggest around street shoe. For the Aerial Plus (which would be Iati) the same sizing as La Sportiva works well. So for 40 I would get 7.5 mens.

Its fine man, I know there are a lot of people that wear a super comfortable fit and walk around the gym for 3 hours in their street shoe sized solutions. Its just the context - we dont want the OP making a purchase decision like that when its clear he likes his shoes super tight.

Hey Zac, I actually work for Tenaya so hoping I can shed some light if you still need input.

I've worn a lot of Sportiva shoes, but not the solution comp. In general I size Sportiva and Tenaya "Ariel Plus" (performance) line shoes the same with the exceptions being Mastia and Indalo which I need to go another half size down in. So my Soluton and Iati size is the same.

The shoes in the Step Up line (Tanta) I run just about street shoe size for comfort, and the shoes in the Balance Pro line (Ra, Inti) I go about 1/2 to 1 size down from street shoe. In general the recommendation from Tenaya is 1-1.5 sizes down for most of the performance line, but I tend to go a bit more (2-3)

Hope that helps!

Any thoughts on the width on the Ra, Inti, and Masai? They all seem very similar, and while the Ra is supposed to be wider per ad copy, i think the Inti has a higher rated "foot width response?"

I think your street shoe size for ra/into. That's what I did. I'm on my 4th resole.

My experience is Solution comp ( which was not a good fit for me, so I sold them) is about the same size as the Iati. I downsize 1/2 size on the Ra and Masai, 1 size on the Iati and 1,5 on the Oasi, UK sizes.

James, the Ra and Inti are pretty similar, inti would be a lower volume and Ra higher. I think it’s fairy hard to find Intis in the US these days. Massai definitely feel more different, they are quite narrow and the stiffest shoe in the tenaya line.

Appreciate this! Sounds like the Ra or Mastia are probably the best options for me then. I'll see if I can try these on somewhere around me, thanks!

I have the Indalo and the Mastia. 43 Scarpa approach shoe and I wear a 40 3/4 in both.

I'm a 8.5 street shoe, 39.5 scarpa instinct, 38.5 oasi and lati for what it's worth
