Tx2 Evo Questions
|
Has anyone tried the new Tx2’s? Wondering about both the sock style and the leather. |

I've had the leather version for about a month now. They seem pretty durable and scramble really well. I've used TX3s, TX Guides (non-leather) and Boulder Xs previously. The leather Evos are pretty similar to the TX3s, with less cushion in the forefoot and way better lacing. Not really compressible in the heel, so the bungee straps on the sole seem pretty useless for this version. I'm in my street shoe size and they are pretty snug, but not at all uncomfortable. i wouldn't use them for a big trail slog, but that's not what I bought them for (short approaches and climbs with technical walk offs). |

i tried a half size down from my street shoe size and it was tight, like a rock shoe. Would have been great for climbing but bad for walking downhill. FWIW - I'm a 44 in TX2 EVOs and TX3s. 45 in the TX Guides, but those don't fit my foot shape out of the box nearly as well. |

I love the leather version! Both fit like street shoe size to me (so significantly different from the TX2 original). The knit one felt almost too wide in the toe box for me so significant contrast there as well - should work well for wider feet. I prefer the leather version because for me it had the right balance between structure/stability and light weight. Really comfortable general purpose approach shoe with lots of adjustability in the lacing system. The knit one didn’t edge or scramble to my satisfaction as it is very flexible in the forefoot but was also comfortable and I take it on long approaches where I have to carry my shoes up the route. May have scrambled better if I downsized. Have positive things to say about the durability for both. The sock fit on the mesh one is really comfortable too, but can be difficult to adjust if you have extremely low volume feet. |

And just in case.. Im looking for a tx2 evo leather 10.5 / 44 if anyone bought the wrong size and want to sell it |

I got the Evos with the knit sock. My comfortable-but-cruiser Katana Laces are 41, and I ordered 41 Evos accordingly. They're definitely sized for precise scrambling, and I think I could confidently climb up to 5.9 in them at this size. I wouldn't dream of going any smaller. |

Gotten some scrambling and easy climbing done in these now. They edge and smear as well as my comfy BD Aspects, which means that those have to go now because there's no real point in having them. They definitely become uncomfortable when not actively hiking or scrambling in them, but they offer impressive support both on and off the wall and I'm happy to belay in them because the discomfort doesn't increase over time. I expected them offer a lot of flexibility, which they do, but they're stiff enough to edge and jam well. I'm excited to see how they break in and resole. |

Got my TX2 Evos in July, for technical walk offs. They are awesome, comfortable and feel super confident in scrambling and easy climbing. One glitch is that the liner seems to move a little if you're too quick in putting them on, so for me there's always some adjustment to make. The "tongue" seems to pile up at the base of the toes, and it is sort of difficult to avoid or correct. Also at the heel the liner seems to be pushed down and you need to give the heel "sock" a little pull to adjust. These are 2 weak points... Less than 2 months of low to normal use, the liner at the heel ripped off. I must say it is very disappointing that the the quality is so low for such high-end shoe. My use was not intense at all, mostly in city to adapt to the new shoe, and 1 or 2 30-45min approaches. Just contacted La Sportiva customer support, will see how it goes... — edit — La Sportiva support was not very helpful. First asked me for pictures then told me to contact vendor. Now trying my luck with sketchy Amazon vendors abroad… when will I learn to just buy my gear in the local shop :/ |
