Long shot here. Trying to plan a trip to Spain(early August). Would like to fly to Barcelona and find a good hotel in a decent neighborhood, that is reasonably priced, rent a car and sample some amazing climbing. Would love to see some beautiful sights. A nice beach not too far from Barcelona with climbing would be dreamy.....Only have 7 days......any suggestions would be wonderful and if there's any way to repay the favor if I can help anyone traveling to Denver USA .....id gladly help just the same. Thanks and please!!

hotels.com for a place to stay. There are beaches in Barcelona. Parc Güell and La Sagrada Familia are the two of standard sights, there are many more - but in summer they will be butt crowded. Not sure when you are traveling but in July/August Barcelona is usually warm to hot and muggy. Not climbing weather for most.

Thanks....any idea where would be good to climb in early August? Not too hot but I don't mind warm ....?I have heard siurana is amazing......I know typically it is a winter area but is there shade enough for a day or two of poking around..?

The closest sea cliff climbing to Barcelona would be Garraf, maybe 20-30 minutes south by car or train. Unfortunately, as has been mentioned, it is hot that time of year and the cliffs face the sun until late afternoon in most cases. Read: solar panels. Having said that, it is possible to climb in the shade up at Montserrat, about 45-50 minutes by car (or one hour or a bit more with the direct bus from Estació Sants). PM me if you’d like some suggestions…

Hey hey ! I live in Chullila but have climbed alot around BCN. Theres a bunch of crags right around Cornudella de Monsant. It will be warm but if you wanna brave it you can find shady crags. Monsant, la musera, siurana, arboli (el falco sector) are all right around there ! Good stuff for sure.

for cars i have had good luck with www.doyouspain.com for cheap cars. Look for a car from Reus its south of BCN and close to all the crags. Have a good adventure!

Hijacking your thread. Ted, thanks for the car rental recommendation, looks like we’ll save a couple hundred over 2.5 weeks. A friend already pointed me to cornudella and I’m already looking for an Airbnb in the area. They’re running about $75/night but I was wondering if you have local info? I was in chulilia pre-Covid and visited goscano’s. Hope to find time to travel south but with only 2.5 weeks and so much climbing in siurana and margalef, I doubt it. Feel free to message me.

Rodellar will be your best best in august, or Mallorca for some psicobloc. North face of Montserrat also has some shaded areas. Garraf is great and accessible via train/walking from bcn but you’d have to go early am or evening. Other places will be too hot in my opinion. I lived in bcn for 3+ years and happy to give you some beta, send me a pm!

Don’t try Margalef in the month of August it’s closed. Heat

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
