Where the good climbing knickers at? (3/4 length pants)

Hey folks. I love my Prana Nemesis Knickers, had them forever and they still are in great shape. I should have bought more than one pair though, because finding something comparable has become my...nemesis... Does anyone know of some 3/4 length climbing pants that are awesome? here's the features I particularly am looking for (that I love about the Nemesis):

  • webbing cinch waist (no durp ass belt loops!)
  • fabric that's lightish, durablish, and not noisy/swishy/plasticy feeling (like many soft-shell fabrics I've had)
  • thigh pocket would be nice but not essential
  • front pockets that go down deep enough to get phone below leg loops

if I can't find some knickers I would be ok with just hemming up some pants if they cut the mustard otherwise.

Thanks!

Outdoor Research used to make the ferrosi pants in a capri for men. I don't think they have it anymore since i cant find it on their website. You might be able to find old stock on some outdoor retail site if you look hard enough.

They haven't done knickers properly for years.

But more importantly, what's the story behind this photo?

Don't know much other than the fact that it is the great Emilio Comici.

You can always turn pants into knickers but you can't go the other way. Amazon sells some fabric scissors for really cheap :D

What are the shoes?

Old basketball shoes? PAs?

They're Italian shoes from the 1930's...I think we can be fairly sure basketball wasn't a thing in Italy at the time. Pierre Allain modified sneakers to make PA's (which became EB 's) in the mid 1930's, and the shoes Comici is wearing are probably Italian sneakers.  They appear to have rubber soles, so would, presumably, be an improvement of the rope-soled espadrilles in use around the same time.

UCraft xlite knickers. Light, comfy, stretchy, highly recommend

I have two pair from Stonemasters. I like them a lot but they're all patched up from wear.

When they're finally done, I'll  probably cut off and hem some 360 Flex Stretch Dockers. I have a pair of those that are comfortable, stretchy and wear well. Think they're $30. Since I'll cut them, length won't matter and I'll just find the cheapest.

I loved the venga knickers from Patagonia, though the knees ripped out of both pairs I had because I don't climb so good (I probably got 2ish years out of a pair). The material they used was durable enough, not some synthetic stuff that rips immediately but still had enough stretch to it that there wasn't limitation of mobility.  I'm on the hunt now too since they've stopped making them - I guess the knicker scene isn't hot right now. I bet in 5 years everyone will be in them. Best of all the worlds.

The Stonemaster knickers were (?are) just simple cotton - they didn't last very long at all, less than a year.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
