I know this isnt specifically climbing related but there is a lot of climbers that also fly fish and for good measure, this will take place on a road trip that includes climbing in the Tetons.

Now that that is out of the way, I will be driving across Wyoming on my way to the Tetons. Hope for some recommendations on good fly fishing for trout along the way. I am trying not to deviate from this path too significantly. Thanks for any and all advice.

I’ve never been, but I like to geek out on The New Fly Fisher videos. Here’s a cpl on Sheridan and the Big Horns.

Bighorns

Sheridan

Side note: Ever think about East Idaho? That’s where I fish and it’s pretty phenomenal. Just over Teton Pass in the Driggs and Ashton area you’ve got the Teton, S. Fork Snake, Henry’s Fork, Warm river, Fall River. A lot of streams to fish all in one general area. Few lakes and reservoirs there too.

Good luck & have fun.

When?

Some great water along your driving route(s)...

You could google any major town and "fishing report" and get some pretty good information.

I know this post is a couple years old, but OP, was wondering if you found any gems out there on your trip?  I'm going to be driving from estes park in CO to the wind river range in July.  Going to be on a honeymoon road trip, so looking for smaller rivers that are wadeable.  I've spent a good amount of time in Montana, but never Wyoming.  Also trying to avoid the popular parks like Yellowstone.  Sheridan area looks great, especially the west fork of big goose up in the big horns.  I've heard good things about little rivers in the winds near dubois too.

If you are going to Sheridan, then go to the Tonge River Canyon just west of Dayton.  The link below is where you park.  It is easily one of the most beautiful rivers in the area, and you will likely have it all to yourself, especially if you hike up the trail to the upper part of the river.  The scenery makes the hike by itself is worth the effort.  One warning though, anything green in the canyon is probably poison ivy.

Awesome, thanks for these suggestions.  I'll scope em out on google maps and add em to the short list.  Will hopefully do some climbing in the winds, might head over to ten sleep to get some sport climbing in, but I'm definitely more excited about chasing cutties.

If you want Big fish, pay the extra money for a reservation permit and fish in Wind River Canyon above Thermopolis.

Scramble into Fremont Canyon, down the climber approaches, and you can catch some amazing rainbows.   And climb some world class rock pitches.
