Camping/Climbing Around Moab
|
Hey y’all, I’m heading out to Moab in a couple days to do some hiking and climbing. I’m wondering if anyone knows of any free/cheap camping in the area? I know BLM campsites charge $20/night, but anything cheaper than that would be AWESOME. Also, I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for easy-moderate sport climbing crags/routes in the area. Just let me know! Townes |

There’s some cool dispersed campsites around Castle Valley and Klondike Bluffs. Depending on the time of year, they could be pretty busy… A little bit more out of the way is Kane Creek road - lots of really scenic sites here but most are ~20$ per night. I can’t speak to the climbing as much because I haven’t had a chance to climb out there! hah. Wall street is probably the biggest climbing area down there (massive walls, right next to river). Good luck - Moab is one of my favorite spots! |

I usually camp at Kane Creek, across from Big Bend Boulders, or at Willow Springs. Wall Street is the place to go for easy/moderate sport routes. Keep in mind that some of them are older routes and the bolts are spaced as such. Spear of Destiny has a big approach but it is a super cool bolted 5.9 chimney that puts you on top of a small tower. Super cool/fun experience for the grade/gear you need. I haven't been to the Cinema wall on the River Road but I've been meaning to. Looks like it has some fun easy/moderate sport climbs. Have fun!!! |

Delton wells area. Stayed there for a month over the winter for free. Usually 2wd friendly. About 15 mins from Moab |

If it's your first time camping in the area please be educated on how to poop! |

I've only been to Willow Springs Rd. It's free, convenient, always found a spot, but not very scenic. 15 minutes to Wall street. Moab's rec center pool is great. Nice diving boards, etc. Mill Creek Waterfall is an easy hike to a good swimming hole. |

Just a heads up, "Willow Springs is beginning to limit dispersed camping as it joins the new Utahraptor State Park." |

Good to know! Do you have more information/a source to where we could learn more on our own? |

The state parks’ website has a little info, but not a lot at this time. Sounds like they’re still in the process of parking up the area |
