Is campsaver.com a good site to order from?

Wanted to see if this is a legit site to order from?

Also, do they package their orders well? Ordered a bunch of gear from Backcountry.com and they just threw it all in a box and it was beat to hell when it arrived.

I know it is climbing equipment, but I'd like to be the one to beat it to hell first. LOL

They're legit, I've bought plenty from them over time. No memory of thrashed packages, may have had blinders on from new gear stoke though

i've ordered a couple things from them, they're fine. They sent a jacket that was the wrong size, and I had to send a lot of pictures before they RMA'd it. I probably wouldn't choose to order from them again, unless there was no other option

Only ever had good experiences with them.  For a while they had some great sales too.

I bought a metolius waste case from them, 6 weeks later it still hadn't arrived, I contacted them and then they sent me one about 2 weeks later.

Then 3 months later another one randomly showed up in my mailbox, so now I have 2, haha.

I’ve received numerous free items, including an 80m rope and multiple cams from them due to shipping errors. Needless to say, I still order from them. Only problem I’ve found is with backorder. Otherwise, totally legit.

So if it says "In Stock" then you got it in a timely fashion?

Anything I’ve ordered that had said it was in stock, I’ve had no issues with.

I bought from Campsaver in the 90's when it was a catalogue, so they are legit.  Been around for a long time.

I just searched my emails and I've ordered from them 21 times (apparently I buy too much gear):

9x shipped same day, or next business day if ordered on a Sunday/holiday
9x shipped the next day (excluding Sunday/holiday)
1x shipped after 2 days (excluding Sunday/holiday)
1x backorder estimated "10-21 days", shipped after 24 days
1x backorder estimated "16-25 days", shipped after 33 days

You’re thinking Campmor - now campmor.com.  Campsaver is early 2000’s.  I’ve used and like both.

You are right.  It was campmor.

Buy whatever gear you need from rock and snow in New Paltz or the Mountaineer in Keene or waterstone outdoors in WV. Support the small guys. They all do free shipping and price matching.

NO!

I ordered a pair of Hoka hiking shoes on March 20. The item was not on back order when I placed the order. I didn't receive the shoes until May 13! By then I already asked for an RMA and return shipping label and found another site to buy the shoes (at a cheaper price!) since I was leaving on a long trip on May 19. As soon as I received the box from Campsaver I returned it that day. They received the return on May 17 (per UPS tracking). Campsaver's return policy is that they will issue a refund within 10 business days. 10 business days from May 17 is May 31. It is now June 6 and I still haven't received a refund. On chat with their customer service, they tell me that I will receive my refund within another 2 weeks. They had my money on March 20, and now I won't receive my refund until June 20 - so they had my money for 3 solid months. Absolutely horrendous experience.

Good to know.  Campsaver is legit though.  The bonus dollars go a long way.  Got enough for a discounted set of nuts ($50ish) when I bought a family of WC friends (.4-3) already discounted to 320.

I’ve bought most of my rack from them, one cam at a time. Between sales, bonus bucks, and coupons I was paying something like $60/cam.Only had one problem with them where the warehouse did a stupid thing and needed to RMA some cams because they were shipped in a bag and not a box.

Their sister site is planet optics, if you call at a weird or busy time, they might flip you to their customer support. Been a pleasant experience every time.

I won’t buy from Campsaver. The last time they had an item on sale it took them a week to tell me they didn’t have it in stock, after I had placed an order. I needed it quickly and ended up paying express shipping full price from another store.

I've never had a problem with them.

I ordered a rope on sale at a "Blazin" discount.  When I went to check on the status of the order I find out it has been canceled. It turns out there was a problem with the payment method for a card I use all the time online. They never contacted me about the payment problem. In a delayed email correspondence they say to reorder the item using PayPal, But the item is no longer on sale and they are not honoring the original sale price. I tried to call numerous times to straighten it out and never made contact with anyone in person and the call was terminated while on hold a couple of times. I haven't dealt with them in the past but this is a one and done experience for me. They did send me an email asking me how my experience was. I let them know.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
