desert reef still clothing optional? a long time ago my GF and i were invited to soak. we went prancing out in our swimsuits and you could just see the folks wondering what planet we were from.
If you are spending more than a few nights camping at J-Tree, especially during winter months, it's well worth the hour drive to Desert Hot Springs. It's rundown and not exactly a destination, but it's cheap and feels great after a day of climbing. Back in the day it was only $4 on weekday evenings. I rediscovered that place when the showers at Coyote Corner were closed and I needed to clean up before flying home. It was very nice, even for just a hurried 30 minute visit.
Ojo Caliente is also great, as is the primitive spot on the Rio Grande near Taos. If you are in the area, those are a must do.
If you have a robust budget for a trip, check out Calistoga. It's at the base of some great climbing at Mount Saint Helena, and the town has numerous hot spring hotels and great dining. As a bonus, it's also in the California wine country. Best in November when the vineyards are changing colors or during spring.
