Totally depends on your environment, how sandy/dusty it is where you climb, how you store your rope, if you use a tarp vs throwing it in the dirt. A non-dry rope can lay a very long time and a dry treated one can last a very short time depending on these and other factors
Assuming all things the equal… general use/abuse of rope, weekend warrior, I try not to fall , all types of rock / ice sometimes I use a tarp , sometimes it get wet / muddy
If you have a quiver of ropes, reserve new dry treated ropes for use ice and snow use until the dry treatment on the sheath wears off. Rock climbing will quickly wear off the dry treatment off the sheath.
As for use solely on rock, I don’t think there is a very significant difference. Most rock climbing ropes eventually have to be retired due to loading on sharp edges. Dry treatment does little to increase resistance to damage from sharp or abrasive rocks that destroy the sheath.
Both dry and non-dry ropes can be cut relatively easily. A single swinging fall can be enough to cut any rope.
Heres a video from mammut, maybe take with a grain of salt but my dry ropes always looked (and handled) better after the same amount of time than my friends who went for non-dry
Mammut has many testing videos showing that dry ropes are significantly stronger when ran along a sharp edge then non dry. If you watch it is actually quite shocking how much more abuse a dry treated rope can take.
