Having used and destroyed every approach shoe imaginable for 25 years I’d like to give a shout out to Merrell and their Jungle Moc as solid, indestructible approach shoe for pretty much any activity from work shoe to winter shoe (worn gaiters) to approach shoe as long you as you don’t have to carry them up a climb.
Easy on, easy off. Solid. I own 4 pairs, one at each exit of my home, one for work. I use them for literally everything except for climbs with walk offs. I’ve had my first pair for over 7 years which I still use.
Great for those with wide feet and back problems. Great for low back issues too, and there’s a reason why your surgeon will be seen wearing these. Pretty much if Dansko made an approach shoe.
Anyway, I thought it was long overdue I gave them a shout out. If you want to save mileage on your fancy climbing approach shoe give these a go!
now if Adidas would please bring back their low profile Terrex with 5.10 rubber for walk offs, cuz Evol cruzer and the low profile BD floppy shoes suck.
