Flagstaff - Dispersed Camping Recommendations

I'm taking a Wilderness First Responder course in Flagstaff in two weeks and looking for recommendations for convenient dispersed camping areas in the area.  I've camped on several occasions out near Paradise Forks but don't want to drive that far.  I understand, with help from the general Flagstaff MP page that there is plenty of free camping to be found in both Coconino and Kaibab Nation Forests.  Looking at a map it looks like Freidlein Prairie might be nice and easy to get to, albeit maybe popular.

Any locals have any recommendations to steer me in the right direction on a good spot?  Will be truck camping.

Cheers

All roads on the Flagstaff District of the Coconino National are still closed at the moment. Hopefully they will be opening up soon. You can check road closures statuses at

My recommendation is when you get to town download the OnX app and do the 7 day free trial. If your WFR course is at the Museum of Northern Arizona like mine was I would look to camp further north up the 180 off of the west side of the highway. Maybe in the area of Wing Mountain. Hopefully the forest will be open by the time you're here.

Lots of free camping near Priest Draw including a free campground. Those roads stay open since there are county neighborhoods out there.

Roads are open.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
