Good climbing PTs in Boulder?
|
Hi all, I'm looking for a climber PT in Boulder - preferably South Boulder. Cheers, Jane |
|
I've heard good things about this guy. Listen to the podcast first if you want to get a sense of who he is and his methods, or just book a consult at MEND. Ingerson is a former comp climber, so he understands climbing pretty well. |

Not in S boulder and not technically climbing specific, but North Boulder PT off valmont/foothills has been good to me. Strained ucl in elbow while climbing and other climbing overuse injuries in shoulder and knee. All got a lot better. Pros in there and great people, would highly recommend. |

Ross Bodine is said to be excellent |

Michelle Harris. |

Dr. Laura Schmonsees Dr. Jeff Giddings. Dr. Rob Scrivner at Alpenstrong PT. --- Lifelong climbers, absolute professionals, and great folks all around. |

+1 for Evan Ingerson at Mend. If you're a BCC member your first visit is free. I had recurring tendon and shoulder injuries that he helped me with in only two sessions. He gave me plenty of exercises to do on my own as well as a hangboard regiment to gradually increase loads safely. Now my tendons are much stronger than before. He also evaluated several strength metrics to help me determine where I should focus my training to continue progressing in my outdoor grades. |

Thanks, all - this is really helpful. I started the training beta podcast interview with Evan Ingerson and wished I'd listened to it when I first got injured. My first attempt is going to be to get in touch with Evan Ingerson based on that podcast and the feedback. I'll never be stuck for a PT again - THANKS! |

Great that you're going to see Evan, Tjane! I've been seeing Evan at Mend for a few months and he is awesome. He helped me overcome a shoulder impingement that 2 other PTs had not been helpful with. Now we're working on chronic knee pain and keeping me healthy for climbing. |

Nicole Haas. She taught Jared "the climbing doctor" he's been on the enormocast. has done alot of work with climbers and also written a few articles in outside magazine about running and climbing injuries and exercises. Highly recommend. |

Thanks, all. Just had my first treatment with Evan and he seemed really good. |

Hi all, I just wanted to update - Evan Ingersoll was really good - I highly recommend him for climbing injuries/shoulder injuries. I was able to climb right through the rehab and it only took five sessions to have this one done and dusted. Thanks for the recommendations! PS Here's the review I wrote on Yelp: I visited Mend/Evan Ingerson after asking on a rock climbing forum for people's recommendations for a PT that understand climbing injuries and the need to get back climbing ASAP. Several people recommended Evan and I'm really grateful they did. Evan is incredibly detail oriented and attentive. He spent time arriving at his own diagnosis (which coincided 100% with that of the surgeon I went to see at Vail Sports Medicine - a surprising diagnosis given the pain), then he set out clear guidelines for rehab, recovery and climbing in the interim. I did the exercises he recommended, slowly built up by a grade a week and had a really good trip to Maple and North Wales after several months of injury. The recovery was very measured and controlled and I always knew what the plan was, and Evan was very positive and encouraging. I can't speak highly enough of him. I had five PT treatments and quick email responses to any questions. All in all it was the fastest, and most comprehensive injury recovery that I've been through and Evan is now my recommended PT for climbing or shoulder injuries. |

I know the OP got his question answered, but just want to throw this out there for future searchers. Evan is THE MAN. He is professional and results driven. I was injured, down in the dumps, and feeling like I would never climb again. Finding out exactly what was wrong, exactly how to fix it, and then making progress along a specified timeline was huge for my spirit. After following his guidelines my finger feels better than I can ever remember. Go see him. |
