New Adjustable Daisy
|
The new skotswallgear.com Adjustable Daisy is now available to order. It functions exactly the same as a Metolius Easy Daisy, they feature 1” tubular climb-spec webbing clip in point and uses 1” flat nylon webbing. They have been pull tested by Yates and have a breaking strength of 2000lbs. That’s roughly 8.5kn ! They are super light… With webbing they come in under 3oz each. These are ideal for climbers who leave their daisies extended and connected to their aiders as leashes and are a great addition for leashless leaders who only use daisies for jugging and body positioning at belays. They DO NOT easily release under tension….. |

It looks like I’ll be buying these. Have always used the Metolius Easy Daisies but never been a fan of their rated strength. |

I've been using these recently (I was actually about to buy some easy daisies when Skot produced these so lucky timing for me) and they're fantastic. I run an allfifi for leading and so if I do have daisies to my ladders (anything vertical to overhanging or harder than C1/C2 or A1/A2) I usually run those daisies fully extended as I don't use them unless I'm jugging or moving around the belay. Those who know me know that I'm a proponent of the modified Camp Swing setup (similar to the Petzl but can release under load, but the reality is that it's bulky and goes through my tie in loops. Especially when I'm soloing with my SP, those tie in loops can get crowded real quick. With these, I can use my two belay loops one for each daisy leaving my tie in loops more space for my overpriced SP. They are significantly less bulky and the twisting issue that comes from using flat webbing daisies as an adjustable tether are irrelevant when it's your allfifi that's doing the adjustable work. The lack of ability to release under load is not really an issue as long as you're running an allfifi. And of course, they're strength over the easy daisy and lack of that weird loop that slides down the webbing make them immensely better. I'll still probably go back an forth between my camp swings and these daisies depending upon my mood and whether or not there's roofs or traverses on a route, but I know that I'll have no qualms about the times I decide to run these instead of my swings. |

I used mine only a little bit last fall but I really like them. I also liked that they are full strength rated. |

Friggen A YES! |

Not clear if they come as a pair or singles, I ordered two assuming they comes as singles. |

Looks like a lot of faff to adjust? |

Just ordered a pair. Can't wait. I've used the metolius version for years, but the added strength of your version sold me on them. Thanks Skot! |

Just used mine last weekend - really awesome and a significant improvement over the Metolius Easy Daisy, in my opinion. |

Hi Skot—I am thinking about getting a pair. I know that I am not meant to bounce test with the alfifi, but I was wondering, is it advisable to bounce test with the adjustable daisies or no? |

My pair delivered yesterday, and I messed with them on my carport "aid wall" for a while. They are just the right length for me, and they are lighter than I imagined they would be. They're basically the same weight of the 140cm BD traditional daisies they're replacing (according to my calibrated hands). I particularly like that the two are built precisely the same way - the stitching, the loop lengths, the heat finishing of the thread ends, the fact the girth loops are twisted in the same direction.. squeaky. Thanks a bunch, Skot. They should be interesting to use to see if I can gain a little efficiency. |
