Climbing shoe leather repair / reinforcement

Hey ya'll, I have an old pair of katana lace that I just resoled and they're still climbing great but the lower leather lace eyelet on both shoes is starting to wear through from foot jamming.

Any ideas of how I could reinforce this area to prevent / slow down future wear? I was thinking of pasting a layer of seam seal or some other flexible adhesive on it as a sacrificial barrier I could reapply every once in a while.

Stick a straw through the eyelet and work E6000 adhesive into the material until it's saturated. Let it cure and then pull the straw out. A wooden stick wrapped in a freezer ziplock would work also.

Aquaseal is another good product, although I prefer E6000. I also use it on my mountain boots where I burn through the uppers from sidehilling.

Exterior silicone caulking would probably work also, but the E6000 is a better product to have around for gluing rubber back together. It's also great for gluing rands back on (like on TC Pros).

Awesome, thank you both for the suggestions! I'm going to give E6000 a try. I'd rather try and stave off a sewing repair as long as I can!

You can also go to a leather shop and pick up a small, thin, piece, and then glue and sew it over the worn spot.

You can aldo just climb face climbs with this shoes. :-) or finger cracks

I do mostly climb hard thin cracks with them, but there are still foot jams mixed in there on some routes at Index

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
