Petzl Connect Adjust discontinued?

I recently learned about the Petzl Connect Adjust and it seems way nicer than a traditional PAS. I was looking to buy one and found that it’s not in stock anywhere and has likely been discontinued. From what I saw, there was a lot of praise for it and no real competitors, does anyone know why it was discontinued? I may try and find one used but will change my mind if it was deemed unsafe or something.

I haven’t used either of them, but the CAMP Swing is pretty similar. https://www.camp-usa.com/outdoor/product/rope-tools/swing-dynamic-belay-lanyard/

edit: or a purcell prusik for 1/10th the price

That does look pretty much the same, thanks for the recommendation!

Definitely not discontinued.  Great personal anchor.

The Petzl is good, but not perfect. This contender will be available from the 1st of April and it promises that it can be released under load:

They are not discontinued, supply chain and manufacturing delays everywhere.

We just got a bunch in (today) from several orders wayyyy back... that had been predicted to arrive much later.

If you can get your hands on a Madrock 'Safeguard', you can pair it with a Beal 'Opera' EN892 dynamic rope.
Then you will have found the holy grail of personal adjustable lanyards...

Note: Do not confuse the 'Lifeguard' with the 'Safeguard'! The 'Lifeguard' is unsuitable.

The shock and horror of cutting up a nice sexy new Beal Opera rope can be mitigated if you can gather a group of friends and split the cost of the rope. Then everyone in your group will have an effective and perfectly functional PAL. If you're a business operator, its no big deal because its tax deductible and OHS laws require that workers have fall protection at all times.

For rope access work and vertical rescue standby work, I usually cut the Beal Opera rope into 10-12m lengths (depending on the work situation). For this length, all operators use a hip pouch that clips around the waist to manage the rope (known as 'housekeeping' at industrial workplaces)..

For recreational rock climbers on multi[-pitch routes, the maximum rope length would be around 2.0m (about 6 feet). Depending on your preference, you can purchase a small 'hip pack' to stow the PAL (Nike make a nice small hip pouch).

For the connector that attaches to the anchor point, I prefer the Rock Exotica 'SwivaEye' triple-action carabiner.

For the carabiner that connects the 'safeguard' to your harness, I prefer the Rock Exotica 'Rock O WireEye' triple-action carabiner.

Definitely not discontinued and very safe. Great personal anchor. I really like the Petzl VERTIGO TWIST LOCK carabiner with it.

Excellent combo Ive used before in rope access / rigging work.
It's just a springless version of the lifeguard so grabs without hesitation.

They stopped making it as far as I know so bit of a tough recommendation for a personal anchor considering that.

EDIT: looks like they will be making it back this summer-ish to retailers according to the human I talked to at MR.

What knots/splices/whippings/etc do you use on the ends?

More compact gurth hitch, and  has the ability to release under load...

My order got canceled. From Rei,  both Petzl and Rei  dont have it listed on their websites anymore. What's going on?

Just got an email mine was cancelled from REI as well. Very upsetting seeing as how I’ve been waiting weeks for it to ship.

Petzl will have the answers, you should ask them.

I have a CAMP Swing. It’s pretty stiff with the stock rope, but after experimenting with other rope sizes (8.5, 8.9, and finally 9.4) I’m quite pleased with it. With a 9.4 rope it holds securely and is easy to release. I like that it’s rated as full on fall protection, not just a daisy.

I think the best of the current lot is the Edelrid Switch Pro Adjust.

(I've used the Petzl for several years and spent some quality time playing around with the Camp, which I think is way too stiff.) The Edelrid version is smoother in all operations and is easier to release when loaded.  (Although this is only a consideration for aid climbers using these tethers as daisies, the Petzl can't be released if the climber is fully hanging but the Edelrid can.)  The metal piece on the Edelrid is a little larger than the Petzl.  The cord on the Edelrid is a little longer than the Petzl, which I appreciate.

We are looking for the new updated version.
