La Sportiva TX4 mid fit compared to regular TX4

I'm thinking of getting the TX4 mid boots (basically, high cut versions of the TX4) for caving aka scrambling/hiking in wet/muddy conditions, as I quite like the regular TX4 but would like something with some more water resistance/protection for wet conditions. How does the fit of those 2 shoes compare? Identical? Is one of them any wider in the toebox than the other?

I’ve found the mid to be narrower throughout the foot, and required more break-in where the tx4 felt great out of the box. While more waterproof, I’ve found them to not be as warm as the regular tx4

the big thing i didn't like about the TX4 mid is that the area behind the heel has some sort of seam or something.  it instantly bugged my old haglund deformities.  i don't have that problem at all with my regular TX4's.

How do they break in? I've found the regular TX4s break in very nicely since they're leather. Does the gore tex lining on the mids prevent them from breaking in as well?

I bought mine used, albeit barely, and could not really find a difference between the two shoes. Basically fit identically for me.

I regularly approach 5 miles in the mids and they're great and just like my regular TX 4's but with fewer leaves and dirt getting inside my shoes.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
