I noticed an outcrop on Google Maps… are there routes near Rockville Hills? As far as I know the only climbing in the area is the Nut Tree Boulders…. I have a friend down there who’s interested in getting out.

My son explored a bit at Rockville park.  Found some decent boulders covered in moss.  Got a good case of poison oak.  Didn't go back.  Nut Tree boulders are OK given the lack of choices.

There are some TR routes and a couple sport routes there. It’s all short (like 20 to 30ft) and spread out across the park. Expect terrible routes and even worse rock. All the bolts are newer and probably ok if they’re still there.  Adding fixed anchors there is illegal as far as I know

Ok. Where could I find more info? I’m not too deterred by choss and I used to live in the area so I’m curious. I may suggest another spot for my friend.

I would suggest a different spot honestly. There used to be info on here and RC.com. But it’s been long since removed if I remember correctly. The person to contact for info would be Aaron Rough. He can definitely fill you in on all the beta. It’s not really a place I’d send a noob. Most of the climbing is actually kinda hard.

Thanks! To be honest at this point I’m mostly curious. I grew up in the area.
