Movement Baker
|
Movement Baker has been a complete shit fiesta lately. The crowds are insane. I know there's already a proliferation of gyms in the area, but do you all think there is any chance that Movement will open another gym within, say, 4-5 miles of the downtown Denver if the active membership at their other gyms exceeds a certain threshold? What would that threshold be/has it already been surpassed? What business/logistical factors would play into the decision to open (or not open) another gym? Interested in hearing thoughts, commiserating, getting flamed, political derailing, etc. etc. |

Yeah all joking aside the local gym scene in the Denver area is rough. Best to climb after 9pm. The 5pm crowd is bad vibes all around. Cancelled my membership at the start of the pandy and never went back. |

SARS unpredictability probably has any expansion plans in limbo. |

ET Golden (I refuse to call it Movement) has been ultra busy lately. I normally go around 7:30pm and it's as busy then as it used to be around 5pm. While I hate how busy it is, I'll at least take some solace in the fact that other gyms are as busy. |

Nick Andrasik wrote: Yea, 7:30 pm is around when I typically get to Baker. I've been wondering if it's as bad in Golden and Englewood... seems like it is, at least out your way. RINO isn't as bad, but I think some of that comes down to the parking situation. Edit: still waiting on the Movement rep to post about their newly announced Movement City Park location, conveniently located within walking distance of my apartment, which will also be the first Movement to feature auto-belays. And there's a bar that sells coffee and beer. |

Andy Eames wrote: It's not like anyone on MP can do anything about whether ET decides open another gym (not that I want to see another ET gym in the front range). What you can do is structure your time during the busy hours to do something different : how about bouldering? It's not like Spot/DBC are far away. |

Being from Europe it boggles my mind how cities here a) don't build parking, b) if they build parking it's above ground and takes up half a city block worth of valuable land... Since I'm already here, some market research: Just wondering about the viability and interest in an allround "Mountain Training" focused gym in the Highlands-Sunnyside area, with climbing walls, LOTS more aerobic exercise focused equipment (Wahoo Kickr cycle trainers with Zwift TVs, stair steppers, etc), strength area, yoga, PT area, recovery area, hot/cold/sauna area. Weekly programming and coached group classes focused on building outdoor endurance and capacity (rock, ice, alpine, mtb, etc.), NOT cross-fit based but based on more sound exercise science (think Uphill Athlete, think ROAPC or Lattice Training). Coffee, beer, happy hour, and co-working space all built-in. |

I’m not in a crowded gym I am the crowd at the gym. |
