Chinese Xinda Rope Protector

Here is another review of chinese goods that is sure to trigger our normal haters!

The Xinda rope protector!

Not much needs to be said, it's a rope protector. A piece of nylon fabric with velcro and a loop.

Its is 25" long on the protected part (not including the loop). It has clip loop with a thin wire clamp.

I find the clamp works OK for 10.2mm and above, but for thinner and and slicker ropes it slides down. In that case a prussik and a keychain biner will keep it in place.

The stitching is so-so with some loose threads that you will want to cut off.

It is reversible with a bright yellow side and a black side. So you can hide it for stealth scrubbing projects or expose it for safety lines.

I've used them for a full season so far, mainly for edge protection on top rope solos and fixed jugging lines.

They cost between $6-10 on Aliexpress depending on the seller and the sale. Make sure you get the long one which is listed ~87cm total length and has the bright yellow stripe. There are other shorter ones, longer is better!

Whether these are worth the money depends on where you are and how much they go on sale.

At $6-7 dollars they are worth the money in my opinion. At $10 less so as you can get the Singing Rock ones on Amazon USA for $15.

Outside the USA these might be the cheapest option by a substantial margin unless you use garden hose.

As always I await my Boi Frank's and all the other haters accusation of "chinese shill" eagerly!

Who knew a simple review of chinese goods would trigger all the Mountain Project hatemongers out of the woodwork!

The only posts I see on Mountain Project from this Javinder Bains is ads to sell products he represents.

See his “Cheap Sleeping Bags” post to see what I am talking about.
