Hey climbing community!
I’m doing a climbing road trip from Vancouver to Mexico between July and October and I want to know what is the best on a budget travel insurance that I can get.

Thanks for your time!

Make sure that whatever you buy you read the fine print.  A lot of policies explicitly exclude climbing, skiing, and other mountain sports.  I almost bought a policy for a b/c ski trip in Canada and then saw that my activity wasn't covered.

It might be worth checking out the American Alpine Club’s benefits depending on what you’re looking to insure.

I have had good luck with AAC insurance.  On the flip side, I really don't recommend Global Nomads.  Used them a couple years ago for a trip the Alps and they were a nightmare to deal with when I needed to make a small claim.

I used Global Rescue on my trip to Patagonia. They were very helpful and quick to respond. AAC offers a discount. But may not be the right plan for your domestic climbing.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
