I’ll be in Draper for 2 weeks for a paragliding course, and looking for places to post up for the nights. Not looking for open camping or shanty town, just somewhere I can literally park at night and leave in the morning.

Thanks in advance!

It will depend on the neighborhood. In mine you'd be rousted fairly quickly. Sorry, I don't know of any options for you but.... under no circumstances should you try to do this in either Big or Little Cottonwood Canyon - you will be busted, and the fine is substantial, including the possibility of jail time, due to both avalanche and watershed issues.

There is the Walmart parking lot solution as a possibility: https://www.walmartlocator.com/walmart-map/

I’ve had luck in LDS parking lots

They charge 15$ a night I already asked!

A couple ideas:

  • I bet you could hang out in a Winco parking lot overnight.
  • The flight park is super close to a bunch of tech buildings with giant parking lots. Plenty of different lots to move around night to night. I've left my car there for many weekends with no issues.

Walmart, sandy Momo (but loud I15 traffic), Home Depot parking lots, I actually stay in a lot of hotel parking lots as well. Never an issue there.

Be careful with Walmarts - not all allow overnight parking. https://www.walmartlocator.com/walmart-map/

And by "sandy Momo", J J means the Sandy Momentum climbing gym.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
