Hey MP, I am selling my Tacoma.  I had hoped to sell it to my girlfriend but we just can't make her regular commute work with gas prices the way they are, so we're buying a hybrid for her.

I have dirt bagged pretty comfortably out of this truck for the past year and a half and it's a great setup for somebody who wants to rock hop in the desert or take more extended road trips without the cost of a van.  Given the great shape, many upgrades and turnkey aspect I am looking for 20K OBO with all extras.  Willing to part out truck and camping gear.  Currently located in Milwaukee, WI.  Will travel to finalize sale.

Truck is the 2.7 liter 4x4 with J-shift transfer case and 5 speed manual transmission. Rare combination and last year of the 1st generation Tacoma.  Mileage is currently 153,xxx. I have owned since 99K and have done the following catchup maintenance (have detailed records with mileage):

-Synthetic oil change 5W-30 and OEM filter every 5K miles
-Differential/transfer case/transmission fluid change
-Engine coolant flush and brake fluid flush
-New belts, idler pulleys and harmonic balancer
-Replaced throttle position sensor
-OEM CV axle rebuild/reboot, new upper and lower ball joints, new lower control arms/bushings, alignment cams and tie rod ends (ALL OEM)
-New spark plugs, Walker OEM replacement muffler and O2 sensor #2
-New sway bar end links and bushings
-New headlights (bulbs, not assemblies)
-NO FRAME RUST (I have applied POR-15 to accessible portions of the frame to keep it this way)
-Headlights restored and coated
-All paint/clearcoat in good condition

Truck has some pretty cool upgrades, all done by me:

-Old Man Emu 880s 1.5" suspension lift (880 springs with Nitrochargers), Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs with extra leaf and greasable shackles in rear, includes exhaust relocation, proportioning valve relocation bracket, and Wheeler's stainless steel rear brake line
-New (2021) A.R.E. CX Classic cap, paint code matched with Yakima Aero bars, carpet headliner and LED strip. Slider windows and drop-down cab window
-Bussmann fuse/relay panel with custom mounting bracket of my own design for house battery and accessories
-ARB CKMA12 compressor hard-mounted under hood with in-cab rocker switch
-Lensun 85 watt hood-mounted solar panel with 12 gauge run to bed
-Custom truck bed platform of my own design with full-extension storage drawers, on 550 pound drawer slides. Grade A1 plywood and urethane finish.
-Goal Zero Yeti 1000 fed by solar panel + 10 amp alternator charging circuit. Has MPPT module and 12 volt regulator cable for fridge
-All wiring done with automotive-grade waterproof connections and TXL/GXL copper wire
-All circuits sized and fused properly
-Dometic CFX28 fridge mounted on DFX Offroad stainless steel fridge slide
-Yakima Skybox 16
-Yakima 7 gallon Road Shower
-Nitto Terra Grappler G1s plus spare, ~50% tread remaining
-Blackout window privacy covers
-Skid Row Offroad engine skid
-Optima Red Top battery (950 CCA)
-Westin regular cab nerf bars, black powder coated
-Gas tank skid pan and hitch receiver sandblasted and re-painted gloss black

Wow, this thing is a beast. If I had 20k laying around I’d purchase in a heartbeat. Good luck with sale Brian!

Hot dayum!! I am currently looking for a Tacoma just like this… I love your setup. My limit is 15k otherwise this would be a no brainer! This is truly a masterpiece, I wish you the best of luck selling it!

2.7 inline 4-banger Tacoma is one of the best engines ever made. THIS configuration is the truck you'll be teaching your grandkids to drive stickshift on and it very well might outlive you.

"But Dan, tacomas are over priced! I'll just buy a ranger, or a nissan or an s10 with half the miles"

Yeah they're overpriced, but learn from my mistake. Nobody wants to climb on my creepy russian knockoff cams, and nobody (really) wants to drive a ranger. Take out a loan. A car payment on a sweet tacoma is a monthly reminder you made the right call. You'll hate your shitty Western-Family-Brand Tacoma and something will inevitably break leaving you heartbroken on the side of the road when you should be barreling down to the desert to climb. Meanwhile the tacoma-bros with 300k miles are high-fiving all the way to the crag, smug with satisfaction from the sweet purr of the 4cyl.

(full disclosure I own a '13)

What a gem! This would fly off the shelf on the Expedition Portal classified forum. Good luck with the sale!

Resurrecting this thread from the dead.

I am putting this truck back out on the market. I had hoped to sell it to my girlfriend, but we can't make the pricing work with her commute length. Not much has changed, but the mileage is 152K now. Still quite low mileage for this year and still NO RUST. Current location is Wisconsin but it's mostly been living in the southwest, could be feasible to meet in Utah as I need to return to Moab in October.

Will sell a minimum of truck, topper, electrical/compressor, and platform.  Parting out the camping gear is an option for me.

Willing to negotiate price.  PM for me details or showing.  Thanks!

I climbed with Brian in the creek and can vouch that he is a stand up guy and clearly put in the time and work to take great care of his truck. This thing is a gem.

Parker!  Thanks for the shout out.  Hit me up if you're around - I should be in Moab in October.

This thing is sweeeeeet! I miss my Taco. GLWS - like others, if I had 20k lying around I would buy buy buy.

Have you tried listing on CL? When I listed mine I had like 50 people emailing me within an hour and sold it the next day.

Damn this is exactly what I’m looking for! Such a sweet setup. I’m trying to sell my van and downsize so if that happens soon I’ll be in touch.
