Where to try/buy Tenaya shoes in California

I recently went climbing shoe shopping at REI. Their selection includes a variety of shoes for most of the brands that they carry. But for Tenaya they only have one style available in store: the Mundakas. I tried on most of the store's selection, and I was surprised that the Mundakas were more comfortable for me than everything else, including the flat stiff beginner shoes.

I did some research and it seems that Tenaya has a reputation for having comfortable shoes. I'd really like to try some other Tenaya shoes. Unfortunately REI only has the one style available, and I haven't seen Tenayas available at all anywhere else.

I'm located in Los Angeles, and I travel to San Francisco every few months. Are there any brick and mortar stores in (preferably) the LA area or in SF that carry Tenaya? Or is my only option to order a bunch of shoes from Amazon or from another online store to try on and then return?

Over 5 pairs of Tenayas that has not been my experience, even on shoes (tarifa and oasi) that are built on the same last. Trango is great about exchanging sizes though. Great shoes!

Tenaya shoe fit varies a lot between models, like any brand. I have a fairly wide forefoot and the Mastias are very comfortable for me, but the Mundakas are uncomfortably narrow (even though their site says the Mundakas are one of their wider shoes). Someone who finds the Mundaka comfortable would probably find the Mastia too big in the same size.

Tenaya has two different climbing shoe lines, the "Aerial Plus" and "Balance Pro" lines, the difference being aggressive vs. all-around. The sizing within the Aerial Plus I have found to be pretty consistent (barring volume differences) but between the two lines they are completely different sizing, around 1-1.5 size difference. For example, if you fit 8 in the Mundaka you would probably need 9-9.5 in an Inti.

Personally I don't understand why they do this, it shouldn't be too difficult to make their sizing consistent. It's almost like their two lines are made by different companies.

I love Tenayas.  If you are willing to drive to OC, the Gear CoOp brick and mortar store in Santa Ana has them in stock.  Call then to check and see what sizes/styles they have.

As a plus, you an go to Sender One for a gym day.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
