Advice on fit between Lynx and Lowa Mt Expert GTX Evo

Hey there!

I just got my first pair of proper ice climbing crampons after using an pair of poor fitting strap on style for a season last year. I got Petzl Lynx to go with my Lowa boots. As you can see from the pictures I attached, the front points are pretty angled inward. I believe I have them adjusted properly, but they are just so asymmetrical/curved in their design that each crampon angles inward much more aggressively then the boot does, resulting in the front points not being inline with my toes/the front of my boots. I’m curious to get some feedback on if this is normal/acceptable, or if I need different crampons to better suit my boots.

Thanks!

You can flip the linking bars to make em straighter. Also maybe just the angle but I think you want the points further forward (ie the front bail further back) for ice, can't see those secondaries poking out much from above.

Damn thanks so much man! Flipping the linking bars totally fixed it, perfect beta. Really appreciate it.

You can also order straight or curved linking bars from most crampon manf.

Jdejace is a genius!  I also was disappointed buying new Lynx only to have the front point angled in. Flipped the bar and presto!

Love most things Petzl, but they must think those of us with big feet are curved in a C shape, as the long bar is curved all the way to the end.

Flipping the bar essentially fixed the fit, had to adjust the heel bail to get the heel lever centered on my heel.  Heel points are off now, but that doesnt matter for what I'm doing.

Great trick. I will have to try that with the smaller boots I run.

Yeah the boots are too far forward for ice. Good if your climbing rock.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
