Good training hikes/climbs in Washington?

So with winter coming up, I was curious what everybody’s go-to training places are.

I’m looking for something between 4-12 miles and 2000-6000 feet in elevation gain, that doesn’t require snowshoes or skis.

I mean I guess some of the obvious ones are going to Si, Teneriffe, etc. But are there any other training gems  around?

Mailbox, or trail networks near Issaquah are good options.

If your looking for elevation gain training you will deal with the least snow by doing something in Issaquah. Many of the trails in Issaquah can be linked for your desired mileage the elevation gain won’t probably be as much but I have ran the trails out there in January for the last 10 years and snow is pretty manageable in running shoes. In particular Margret’s way is a great trail and probably one of the better trails after huge rain downpours in western Washington.

If you want hill intervals in woodinville there is a hill called heartbreak hill. It’s steep, like steeper than anything else within 20 miles of seattle.

South end of the Tunnel creek trail, up from the Dosewallips.  4500' in 2 1/2 miles. But then you have to go back down. Lots of options in the Olympics that start around 1000' and go up to 5 or 6k.

Mt Washington, Mt. Si, Mailbox Peak, Bandera mountain - Anything else along I-90 that's eight or more miles.

They get steep quickly and aren't too far from the city, making them manageable training objectives after or before work.

Mt. Si is one of the most crowded hikes generally but this time of the year it's not nearly as packed as June/July

Eastern Washington; Mt Spokane is perfect.  Hiking through hemlock and cedar forest with cross country ski, snow shoe higher up the mountain.   Another jem is Micha Peak south of Spokane.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
