A guy in my area is offering a good deal for a #5 C4 that spent the past 15 years in a drawer. Definitely not trusting 15 year nylon though, so I'd like to resling it, but all info I can find is for the US. Don't want to do the webbing loop method because BD say there's a loss of resistance on the thumb loop if the webbing isn't the double loop stuff they do.
It lowers the strength by 2kn, wildcountry use dyneema and don't double loop, they just take the 2kn penalty and settle for super good enough 12kn instead of 14kn.
The 14kn is probably just a legacy standard, it doesn't make much sense to come out with your new cams and have them be weaker even if 14kn is totally overkill.
